No asshole mods high on their own authoritah, ruining threads by insisting they stay 100% on topic.

No censorship of naughty words or R rated content.

Learn something here every day from the posters.

That's why I renewed my premium membership.

I also love being able to go to the best of section, because that's where I find a lot of gems posted APOCALYPSEFUCKisShostikovitch that I somehow missed.

Though we generally respect "topical use only" instructions.

I have to confess, I do enjoy reading those too.

I love learnin the mutts stuff, it is quite a challenge to learn them anything, but once in a while I see a glimmer of sentience.

I love learning that the CRA triggered World War I and destroyed the Hittite Empire.

It's a news clipping service for me: I get to see what's currently got people talking and reading. The audience is skewed to California-centric tech workers. I know and understand that demographic.

When I comment, it's for readers who may be interested in another's thoughtfully held view. Long threads of arguing accomplish little if anything. I don't need to hear every day that some person still holds their original views or assessments. I have no desire or expectation of changing highly opinionated people, but not every reader is so committed to a particular assessment of an issue.

After a couple years I observe the "usuals" of Patnet to have their predictable point of views and I enjoy them.

All you do is whine and whine and whine. How thoughtful can you be?

I like Patnet because it's like watching a bar fight where everybody has missing teeth, pulped and bruised faces, and big clumps of hair torn out but everybody just keeps on swinging.

And when they pass out, you wake them up with a bucket of water, just like in the Old West.
