On Thursday night, Trump gave a one-hour-and-fifteen-minute speech accepting the Republican nomination. The speech was so overwhelmingly well-received among the crowd that the media did not know what to do to tear it apart. Chyrons appeared on mainstream networks: “Trump Accepts Nomination.” Nothing scandalous.

That's very understandable!! The show was a motherfuckin' blitzkrieg of lights FOR AT LEAST A HALF HOUR!!!!! NO SHIT!!! sound and insanely happy smiling faces: Really they made the Rose Parade look like some kid's birthday party in comparison. No rockstar ever featured such wild-eyed manic and protracted pageantry. Somehow combining Alice in Wonderland with Fantasia animated could only be a pittance of fantasy by comparison! Any mind-altering drug you could possibly take would only diminish the effects.

The show I tuned into was devoid of anything besides fireworks displays on huge screens with insanely overblown titling, multi-kinds of confetti and little flying things, bright lights, custom-decorated bouncy balls in differing sizes too ALL AROUND THE CONVENTION FLOOR in the air from dweeb to putz and back again all over while blasting classic dance rock, blindingly gaudy glistening red white and blue glassy graphic titling and patriotic images spinning and tumbling around all the screens in every corner of the room,

On the stage were no words, no speaking at all, only waving smiling and endless stalking back and forth across the stage in the style of Mick Jagger, but no ass-wiggling. (so far)

Every once in a while the multi-camera constantly-roving floor-scans would focus on a token person of color and briefly zoom in to showcase that particular attendee. (no middle eastern types though)

You could not fail to have some strong kind of feeling confronted with this protracted polarized spectacle of such unimaginable scope and seeing all this immersive sensory overload: either deliriously and joyfully elated or alternately an all-consuming chaffing and desire to laugh out loud at the ironicly empty and yet longest ever spectacle of superficiality and extreme pageantry.

And ohhh the humanity!!!!

After all that the "journalists" interviewed some remaining quasi-random guests and talked about feelz and what a great night this was and such a great party, but nothing germane to the election or the presidency at all!!!

Why do you suppose that was?

Ok I guess I didn't tune in until after the speech. I see a few different edits of the show on YouTube today oddly licensing differing music, some sources feature more thematic music in lieu of the classic rock hits used last night.
