White House had hoped to push the deal forward in the lame-duck session of Congress, assuming Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton had won the election.

Yup, with President Elect Hillary calling it the Gold Standard with it's guaranteed $1/day labor protection, and with several new Dem House and Senate members Obama was hoping for, this would have happened as a no-brainer.

And the same people bitching right now about Trump's rumored finance industry picks would be proclaiming how great TPP is for the "people". They'd also be ignoring Froman or Geithner or Paulsson or suchlike appointments to Hillary's cabinet.

Soetero will be deported back to Indonesia and sold into slavery.

IHLlary will be indicted for war crimes and handing over classified materials to enemies of AMERICA!

Good.

I'm definitely of the opinion now that globalization is simply a way for the 0.1% to defeat hard-won American labor and environmental laws and to depress wages. Not to mention currency manipulations by countries like China which make it impossible for American companies to compete on price.

If you call it "free trade" it sounds pretty good. But it's not free trade unless the laws are the same on both sides of the trade.

Free and fair trade increases the standard of living for all involved countries. I agree free trade, without fair trade is useless. China needs to buy more from us.

Why do Free Market HATERS want to stop trade agreements that increase great american profits
that are a motivating force to make more outsourced job?
I would recommend that people not criticize the GREAT american OUTSOURCING CORPORATIONS.
It is the intention of d & r voters. They will stop anything that could harm america.

d voters supported the free trade queen . R voters chose the man who promised an end to it and he won even before he steps into office!!!

@Strategist

I didn't have time to respond when you first posted that story about all the Chinese people in Vegas throwing money around. But I wanted to add a similar story of my own.

We have some Chinese patients (from China) who have so much money that they will have two surrogates going at the same time, just to make sure that they get what they want. This is like $200k!! (No, I don't get all that... It's everything from medical to surrogate compensation to insurance to legal to screenings, etc...) The thing is... It's not just an occasional patient. At least a third of our cycles are like this. On the surface, I don't care. It's an extra cycle for me...

In contrast... People here in the US who require a surrogate spend every last borrowed penny to afford a single surrogacy cycle! They are getting money from family, putting things on credit cards, emptying out bank accounts for just ONE opportunity to be parents... And we have Chinese patients who do these two at a time just to make sure that things turn out well for them so they can have "a monkey baby." (Monkey was a big year, apparently). So they end up with two-to-three babies born within weeks of each other. It's kind of weird for other reasons, if you ask me. But it goes to show... here we are struggling to afford things like this and they are rich enough to book a spare.... just in case.... There is something very wrong with all this.
