Car rams into protesters blocking traffic in Charlottesville, Virginia

Not only is stopping traffic illegal as false imprisonment, but it is also damn stupid. Eventually you trigger someone's fight or flight instincts and if you don't allow them to flee, they turn to fight you.

This is happening time and time again. Protesters block cars. The drivers try to go around the protesters or slowly through them only to be attacked. Drivers are aware that the crowd can assault them at any time. Not everyone's fuse is long. Inevitably someone decides their rights or their safety warrants plowing through the crime. If they become angry, it gets even worse.

Protesters need to stop thinking they have the right to block traffic or to imprison people. Freedom of speech is not the freedom to force your speech onto others. And threatening people with violence only endangers the protesters and other protesters who are then considered a threat by the public. Obstructing traffic for any reason should simply be met with immediate arrest. This is the only way to stop these protests from turning deadly.

Looks like the driver in this case came down from a hill far from the protester. It could be a right-wing terrorist attack. Not enough details to tell yet.

Not related to the incident, but about the two rallies.

Point taken, but, when you try to demonstrate legally, like they do where I live, you wind up being allowed to stand in a heavy enforcement presence in a park that is out of the way, for a brief period, and not seen by hardly anyone. Of course nothing really happens except the local paper profiles it with a kind of good natured shrug and a chuckle.

What Martin Luther King Jr. did marching through Birmingham and on was illegal as hell but it was effective enough to become a mark in the history books.

Still, in the black cause for example, there is good reason for hopelessness and outrage which force will not be able to squelch no matter what they do. The cost is that people will die and be injured and destruction and fires will happen too. Honestly we have all seen over the last 55 years that these illegal demonstrations HAVE in the final analysis been highly effective and bringing about the needed changes. Unfortunately, for pragmatic reasons, these outbursts are going to keep happening. In effect this is a civil war demanding that a price be paid to achieve a new state of cease-fire.

It would be wild if the Perp just had road rage about blocked streets and didn't give a shit about either side.

Probably someone paid to do this by Soros.

A lot more people see protesters that are holding up signs from the sidewalks then see protesters who are blocking off streets. Also, it doesn't help one's message to piss off the people one is trying to convince.

Looks like both sides are assholes in this.

The right way to protest is by showing the injustices. This is damn easy when counter-protesting Neo-Nazis and KKK members. Just hold up large images of the Holocaust and lynchings. You don't even have to say a word.

That said, the guy in the car does not appear to have been fleeing entrapment as I first thought. This wasn't a road rage issue either. Subsequent videos released showed him coming from far away from the protesters. I added those to the original post. More information is coming in. He appears to have been targeting the counter-protesters. No word yet as to why. It could be another base stickman asshole type or, even worse, a true believer.

An alleged driver has been identified, but we don't know for sure if the person or if someone stole his car.

Here is coverage of the protest before the incident. It was already violent.

The neonazis need a marching band, like the Merry Sieg Heilers or the Zyklon Bees.

Protestors that block roadways should be mowed down by any American trying to enforce Dan's laws.
If only one protestor dies, the driver should lose his license for life, three executions by vehicle is the minimum.

Ignorant fucks need to be maimed & killed if they put themselves at risk.
Some brilliant minds stay home, stay out of trouble, stay out of courts ,don't get pepper sprayed &
boycott all Republicans.

Who can account for the fools on the Left & Right?

Those Northern Koreans are quite snazzy with their little dance-march. Don't you just love it watching them shimmy and shake?

Seriously, I can't imagine what it must be like to have a run a drill rehearsal for those pageants. They dress squads right old-fashioned style so a lot of it can be grasped by rote. The modified goosestep must be excruciating after a few miles, though. I see that stuff on TV and wonder if they parade the city or just run review trots for the premier and his courtiers in the square.
