The general rule of thumb is find a large cap growrth stock index fund or an S&P500 index fund. They come in mutual fund and ETF varieties. I'm not sure how TSP's work, but look for anything Vanguard, they're the big boys in town. https://personal.vanguard.com/us/funds/etf
For bonds Pimco is the de-facto one people go with, ticker PTTRX.

I agree with your husband, had the exact same thought myself. If you look up at the house you have this massive wooden structure just being supported by shallow beams.
This house is 1/8 a mile from San Andres fault line no way I'd want to be up there. I'll swing by this weekend and see if its open again, I'd love to go and make fun - On 18 Apr 2013
