Old people do not benefit as much with schools as younger people with children.
bullshit excuse. old people had children that went to school, other old people paid taxes to put their kids through school. Old people went to school when they were young, other old people paid taxes for them...
I don't have kids, and can't have kids. I still pay school taxes. I actually even vote to raise them as I support education, and want to see it improve.
We all win with better education, not just people with kids. hell, we need someone smart coming up to fix all the problems we are going to leave them!
I didn't say oldsters didn't benefit in the past. But they benefit less than younger people attending or with children attending school.
But what if oldsters retire to another state(eg NYC to Florida)? Should they pay school taxes in Florida or NYC? Is it fair that they pay lower taxes in Florida when they and their kids attended school in NYC? - On 18 May 2013

If they get rid of that deduction they should also get rid of property taxes for retirees on their primary residences.
Why?
Because if you are going to take something away from people by taxing them, you should at least give something in return at old age when folks can no longer earn like they did when they were young.
Your argument makes no sense. Taxes on homeowners pay for things - things like police, fire, schools, senior centers, etc. Old people benefit just as much from these as anyone else.

The whole theme of crony capitalism repeats itself. .
Perfect example:
Tesla Motors has become the belle of Wall Street over the past week after revealing its first quarterly profit and receiving the top score ever from Consumer Reports for the Tesla Model S electric luxury sedan. But those accomplishments haven't played well yet in North Carolina, where the state Senate unanimously passed a bill Monday night that would block Tesla's plan for selling its cars directly to consumers — forcing it to either steer clear of the entire state or use a franchised auto dealer like all other automakers.
The Republican-sponsored bill, which has the backing of the North Carolina Auto Dealers Association, mirrors fights in several other states by dealers who worry about the precedent set by Tesla — even though Tesla's own projected output of 20,000 vehicles a year is a rounding error on the 15 million new vehicles sold by U.S. dealers annually. Dealers in New York and Massachusetts have gone to court in attempts to block Tesla; in Texas, the automaker has been pushing its own bill that would loosen restrictions which limit its sales pitches to phone conversations.
