In SF county *79%* of FHA borrowers made more than $100k and 45% made more than $150k. Well good to know my tax dollars go to those in need.

I agree, I think there is a small comeback underway for US mfg. Labor and material costs are higher, but the gap is shrinking (Chinese costs up 10-15% per year, US flat). Also lead times are shorter, transportation costs lower, and (to your point) quality control is better/easier.
So I am pretty optimistic about seeing more made in USA goods, but less optimistic about a lot of mfg jobs. Most mfg is very automated these days.
