The real reason we have a doctor shortage,
Another poorly thought out plan to reduce heathcare costs.
Doctors salaries make up about 7%-10% of the entire health care budget - depending on your sources. Give doctors NO salary and at best save 10%.
Some sources will claim doctors make up 20% of costs, but this includes doctor salaries in addition to clinical services. (many charts will leave out the "clinical services" part, thus making the 20% very misleading.
Its very easy to make doctors the scapegoat of our healthcare problems, since they are the frontmen of the healthcare industry. Although doctors are the driving entities of healthcare, they are a small fraction of its problems.
Secondly, even if we assume doctors make a lot, lets look at wages compared to hours worked.
You will find many other profession even within the health care industry that make more per hour than doctors. Look at CRNAs as an example.
WTF are nurses making over 200k????
