If this was the typical govt union worker as you portray, i wouldnt say anything. However I would hardly say that the ave govt union worker is barely making a "decent salary", especially when you factor in the unbelievable benefits they get. Nevertheless here are the "barely decent salaries" you speak about.
teachers: ave salary 68k, some counties AVERAGE pay is 101k

Prison guards: ave 72k. oh yeah they get paid to walk from their cars into the prison, then paid to walk out to their cars - 30 minutes extra pay each day.

Cops (Santa Ana as example): ave salary of 137K + 36K for retirement + 13k for health per year. And this is not even for capt or chiefs which are WAYYYY higher
