Instead, one theory holds, Mr Kim will offer Mr Trump a choice: either an immediate scrapping of missiles capable of hitting America, or a slower, step-by-step programme of the sort previously attempted, leading to the eventual dismantling of the North’s nuclear programme. That would be a trap, albeit an open one. In all likelihood, the step-by-step process would go the way its predecessors have, with North Korea benefiting from the easing of sanctions before pulling out in time to preserve its nuclear capacity. One possible fudge (and source of future disputes) would be for the North to give up nuclear weapons but to retain nuclear facilities that could be depicted as civilian.

This basically describes "Iran deal", albeit slightly less sweet because Iran was also getting a path to legal bomb in 10 years.

It's 50% cheaper!! We're already paying for it twice over. Why do people think we can't afford it?

How is it 50% "cheaper"? How can it be cheaper if like mell pointed out, the tax burden is increased? Nothing in the world comes for free, even making something "cheaper".

I guess it's cheaper for those who expect to pay less into the system than they expect to extract from it.

Because you'd be paying ZERO to your employer and your employer would be paying ZERO towards your healthcare. So, you'll get a raise too!

This isn't hard. Come on.

California's estimate for "universal healthcare" came at 15% of additional tax on top of existing SIT being necessary to pay for it. This is waaaaaaay more than I pay for my employer-provided health plan, co-pays, deductibles and all that jazz.

I had wondered about that, or something along those lines. For example, was there an argument, did he blaspheme and then get killed by a Muslim as per Islam, etc. The family note he "struggled with thoughts about meaning, life, happiness." That means only that he's Swedish, but most Swedes don't actually kill themselves. I can sympathize with the preference for privacy over investigation, but I wonder also if it might be part of the Swedish surrender to Islam.

My guess would be he had a run-in with someone who's someone there (some kind of young princeling maybe), got into an argument/fight, was injured and bled out when the perp fled w/o calling for help. His family has probably been paid off to close the whole thing as smoothly as possible.

The whole "slit his own throat or maybe wrist with a broken wine bottle to commit suicide" just smells awfully fishy.

Cats are living with dogs now: NYT is suddenly OK with people buying guns for protection.

Reporting is not advocacy. Sorry you weren't aware of that. NYT reports on school shootings also, does that mean NYT is OK with school shootings?

There is a tone, Bobby. The tone matters. The tone of the article is positive, understanding. There is no typical ridicule of gun owners like we usually see in NYT. Suddenly, somebody buying a gun for protection is not "paranoid mouthbreather" or some such. Sorry, you are so tone-deaf. (The last sentence is my "fuck you" for your second sentence, in case you didn't pick it up).

I personally don't see any special #win there, but I don't see any #loss either. So far the situation is similar to Bush removing NK from terrorist-sponsoring countries list in exchange to desctruction of a reactor cooling tower. It's too early to tell whether this new talks end up the same way (i.e. nothingburger) or lead to something bigger. I just don't trust the fucking commie fucks. Unless these regimes are completely dismantled they will continue playing fucking games. One look at the Russian fucks is all proof you'll ever need.

USSR didn't recognize Western patents inside the country. Everything was available to everybody for free (as a shitty copy). Guess what: the standard of living was still far lower, than in the West. Therefore that guy is full of shit: eliminating patent and copyright protections won't lead to higher standard of living long-term. It will kill incentive to innovate and lead to stagnation.

Actors and musicians are not really "fully grown adults". Mentally most of them closer to children. Hence the childish behavior.

The SPE wasn't about "guards following orders". Because, officially, they weren't given any orders to abuse anyone. The reality, as it turns out, was a bit different.
