End of Rush Limbaugh?

I've been reading updates on the jihad against Rush Limbaugh's advertisers and it is brutal. Blood is in the water and corporations are fleeing like roaches caught in the open when the lights turn on.

For those who forget, Dr. Laura was very quickly eliminated from television (and eventually radio) through a similar crusade about her homosexual and African American rants.

Here's a good update:

You Rush Limbaugh fans DO understand we're talking about private insurance right? Uh right?? This comment:

    thomas.wong1986 says

    $3,000 a year on contraception...

What are we the tax payers paying for... a Brothel ?

    Is totally ignorant.

Fluke's lies of $3000 for contraception are obvious. The obvious rebuttal is that the pill is the luxury form of contraception. She could buy a diaphram and carry it with a tube of spermicide in her purse. She could also get an IUD, they still make them.

This is a direct quote from Flukes testimony. Again it illustrates how willfully ignorant the right wing is. You people are NOT qualified to pick the president and shouldn't be voting.

“A friend of mine, for example, has polycystic ovarian syndrome, and she has to take prescription birth control to stop cysts from growing on her ovaries. Her prescription is technically covered by Georgetown’s insurance because it’s not intended to prevent pregnancy.
“Unfortunately, under many religious institutions and insurance plans, it wouldn’t be. There would be no exception for other medical needs. And under Sen. Blunt’s amendment, Sen. Rubio’s bill or Rep. Fortenberry’s bill there’s no requirement that such an exception be made for these medical needs.

Are you going to tell her to put a diaphragm on her polycystic ovarian cysts? Genius.

Why not just admit you were wrong and your comment was ignorant? Seems like an awful lot of text to waste on covering up the fact you actually implied women should put a diaphragm on a polycystic ovarian cyst.

There's no hypocrisy here, which is why you can't point out any hypocrisy. Pointing out hypocrisy takes a single sentence.

It's not a crime to be an activist and speak at congressional hearings.

Neither is calling a person a slut a crime last I checked.

People are free to think Rush is a douche and not advertise or listen to his show. But we need one set of rules that applies to everyone if we are all of a sudden going to go apeshit and try to enforce some sort of civility police on free expression with boycotts and intimidation.

Fluke said lies about $3000 for contraception. She may have known someone who has PAID this amount but the lie is that contraception COSTS $3000 for three years. This is bullshit.
NOW. If the point of the hormone was a medical problem, then this was always covered by every and any health plan since this is using the pills to treat a medical problem NOT for contraception.
The medical uses of hormones are varied and many, but the cost of contraception is NOT $3000 unless you choose to pay this much.
You can say eating in restaurants costs $250 per person. This is not true, it is possible to PAY this much in a handful of restaurants in the USA.
You can also prove that it costs just $3 to eat in a restaurant, if that is fast food and the dollar menu.
"Eating out costs $250" is therefore a LIE because it does not cost that much unless you choose to pay that much.

Freedom of speech means that the government cannot harm you in any way for saying something. And, of course, freedom of speech has but few exceptions (only three that I've counted):

    1. Making threats of violence including death threats.
    2. Falsely reporting emergencies.
    3. Providing false testimony and/or libel/slandering someone.

And those three exceptions are to protect other people's rights.

Freedom of speech also means that the government will prevent other people from using violence or the threat of violence to stop you. It does not mean that people won't react negatively to what you say.

Boycotts are a legitimate form of speech and can be used to address grievances against corporations. They are as important as our right to protest government actions.

Now whether or not Rush's lame ass comments warrant boycotting is another story. Personally, I don't get why anyone even listens to his show. He went batshit crazy as soon as Clinton was elected. I used to watch his TV show back in the early 1990s. He wasn't the extreme hatemonger he is today. His show was basically a conservative equivalent of The Daily Show back then, although not nearly as funny (he did have some good jokes). But as America became more polarized and extreme, so did he. I'm not sure which is the chicken and which is the egg.

    http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-spokane/rep-steny-hoyer-sandra-fluke-should-sue-rush-limbaugh

    Article:

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said Fluke - the Georgetown law student who told Democrats coeds at her school are going broke buying contraception - should sue the radio talk show host.

"I'd like to see her take him to court," he said on Sunday, while attending the annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee in Selma, AL.

You misread this article, too. Hoyer said Fluke should sue Rush, not that Rush should be brought up on charges. Big difference.

Nevertheless, any such lawsuit by Fluke would be frivolous and would likely end with her owing Rush and his lawyers money.

I'll go over the list and see which, if any, have merit. I'm one of the few people on this site who will readily call bullshit on both conservatives and liberals. See my past postings if you have any doubt. I've torn new assholes on both.

Are there any other examples you'd like to add to her list?

I don't think a 30 year old activist and law student going to one of the planet's most expensive and prestigious law schools is considered "the weak".

Plenty examples of liberal misogyny in the Daily Beast link.

Worse, since Obama has foolishly overplayed his hand and inserted himself into this controversy (personally calling Fluke) - he now gets to explain why it is OK to take $1 million dollars from chief woman-hater Bill Maher.

I don't believe this story. Not for 5 seconds. This country is always setting up the serve for the next invasion. No country anywhere else like it. Unless they can get there resource stealing buddies in the U.N. to go along with them. More than likely hes after someones puppet. See hes a killer, kidnapper, I'm sure he mutilates little puppies. Throws women off of rooftops and eats with his fingers. What no mass graves, forced sterilization and gas fired barbeques to cook the kiddies on? Bullshit.

The guy was in the Sudan. Theres your proof right there Uncle Fester. That ought to "heat" some people up. You said it should I believe it? Fuck no.

"Washington authorized up to 100 U.S. Special Operations trainers and military advisers to assist African forces searching for Kony and other leaders of the LRA" REALLY OUT OF GOOD FUCKING WILL AND PHILANTHROPY? YOU GET YOUR OWN CITIZENS SHOT UP FOR PERFECT STRANGERS RIGHT. NOTHING IT IT FOR YOU. BULLSHIT.

You send some kids mother home his dead body. Because well Jesus would love all of this. Ain't it a great cause. Save it for the mind of a 11 year old. We invade anywhere at anytime for any reason and we will even provide the cover story for you is more like how it should read. Everyone that dosen't live in America is just a stupid rabid animal is what you should put on there. Its not the case of course. People are people. Maybe that guy is just tired of the puppet. One more thing this is the first time the fucking world ever heard of this guy so its all new and really one sided. I could get the CNN side I already have. CNN appeals to the disaffected people. Really pissed of people at America. Thats about the one choice they get and it ain't fucking much.

"Kony's forces are believed to have abducted thousands of children to join his cause" YEP THEN HE FUCKING ARMS THEM. HE MUST REALLY STUPID. MORE LIKE THE GUY THAT MADE THIS BULLSHIT UP IS STUPID.

I guess I am also supposed to buy into the fact he cuts hands off throws them in a big fucking pot and starts dancing around like a witch doctor. That keeps a pissed of guy with an AK47 in line every time. Thats the message thats supposed to have it all make "sense". Please don't print this stuff anymore. Its getting way to repetative. You people use a "method" in these stories. Its the same thing every fucking time with a few minor twists. Youv'e pulled this kind of stuff way to much.

I just assume now after all the bullshit you've pulled anyone you zoom in on is just some poor fucker sitting there trying to mind his own business and eat his lunch.

Apparently in Florida due to a law written in 1883 it is a misdemeanor to question a woman's chastity. So what Rush said could be a crime.

Yes, the law may be found unconstitutional. It sure would be fun to see Rush challenge the constitutionality of the law in front of the Supreme Court.

If you think calling Sarah Palin a dumb cunt is as bad as calling a college student a "slut", "whore", and "porn star" then I can't help you. You don't have enough connection with the real world to even have this conversation.

For one thing, Sarah Palin actually is a dumb cunt but that's not the important difference. The important difference is that Rush Limbaugh constructed a very narrow and deliberate attack on this woman's character in a way that was intended to be taken seriously. He actually constructed a logical argument as to why she's a whore.

On the other hand, Sarah Palin was basically called a doo doo head. It's no deeper than that. It's like calling someone an asshole on the freeway. She was called a bad name. Sticks and stones and all that crap.

You're not going to understand this, but trying to assassinate one's character is many times worse than anything Bill Maher did. It's not even close.

Interesting question, does the law care where the perpetrator is at the time of a crime or the victim?

If someone standing in Georgia gets shot by someone standing in Florida what state tries the crime?

They are losing millions from this. Five minutes of dead, ad-free air on Rush today

    http://blog.sfgate.com/nov05election/2012/03/08/five-minutes-of-dead-ad-free-air-on-rush-today-video/

While Rush said just yesterday that everything “is cool” with this business side of the show — never you mind about those dozens of advertisers who have left — there were 5 minutes of dead air on the show Thursday. And no, not intellectually dead, we’re talking stone cold silence. You know, in a place on the program where advertisements might appear. As one tally had it, 77 of the 86 ads that ran on El Rushbo’s show today were free ads, sponsored by the Ad Council.

Also, The Atlantic is reporting that somehow portions of the show’s transcripts where Rush talked about expecting Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke to produce sex tapes …have been scrubbed from Rushlimbaugh.com. Yes, allegedly history is being re-written/whitewashed.

ROTFL, just saw Jon Stewart's reply. Man! Stewart is AWESOME.

Specifically, I like how he said "Welcome to f-ing club. Reimburse me for the Iraq War and Oil subsidies"..;)

Unfortunately, there are people who listen to this asshole (limbaugh). One of these days he's gonna pop a vessel during one of his rants - I'd pay to see that.

He actually constructed a logical argument as to why she's a whore.

iwog - you are exactly right. The people who are actually arguing for this guy needs to see this fact, plain and simple. Then they'll understand all this backlash he's getting.

You Rush Limbaugh fans DO understand we're talking about private insurance right? Uh right?? This comment:

    It was about religious rights...

Fluke, not a member of the clergy, was rejected from the orginal hearing, which included members of the clergy and centered around "church and state".

"Lines Crossed: Separation of Church and State. Has the Obama Administration Trampled on Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Conscience?" Feb 18, 2012.

    http://oversight.house.gov/index.php?option=com_jcalpro&Itemid=1&extmode=view&extid=378

Nancy Pelosi and the feminist got ticked off no women were given testimony time and the topic of the discussions which they saw as "women rights and Birth Control". Clearly the two agendas are different.

Darrell Issa refuses to let woman speak at hearing which the topic is 'religious freedom' to deny birth control

Thu Feb 16, 2012 at 08:16 AM PST.

"it's about the religious freedom to deny birth control coverage,"

So Pelosi 'stages the hearing anyway' to hear Fluke 'testimony'...

"In her appearance at the Feb. 27 committee meeting, Fluke asserted that her fellow Georgetown Law students “struggled financially” to pay for contraceptives which, she told congressional Democrats “can cost a woman over $3,000″ during the course of a three-year legal eductation. John McCormack of the Weekly Standard found that generic birth-control pills are available at a pharmacy near Georgetown for $9 a month, which would make the cost of a three-year supply $324."

Wouldnt that get anyonee..specially if your a tax payer... really pissed off. Are we funding insurance, education institutions or a brothel ?

You never know. The big money powerful may be looking at the recent republican clown show and decide that newscorp, and the AM radio talk shows are actually pumping up the most ignorant and hateful wing of "the GOP" so much that it's too rabidly right wing even for them.

The experiment in manipulating the right has been too successful. Even the most machiavellian evil puppeteers would have ever predicted that they would so easily be able to manipullute the TPBs, the Abes and the T.Wongs of the world.
