Starts out slow but is a brilliant article. However, we can add that the financial cabal, the 1 percent is also in control of finance in the UK and in Europe, and that the housing bubble was imported from the UK.

It is not just an American problem. The financiers, and I don't mean the bankers, I mean the people behind the bankers, have done this to us. It is a scam that has destroyed the American dream. Bankers don't want to make fixed 30 year mortgages. They want easy money lending or no lending at all!

    Quote from that article:

"America has its priorities upside down, and after decades of living there, I was simply tired of being a stranger in a strange land. In A General Theory of Love, Thomas Lewis and his colleagues conclude that happiness is achieved only by those who manage to escape the American value-system. Well, the easiest way to escape from that value-system, is to escape from America."

Amen. I've actually considered becoming Amish, just to escape the toxic American culture.

    Amazing find, Patrick.

"temporarily embarrassed millionaires" really struck a chord.

A wise old barber once told me "The problem is that everybody thinks they're going to be rich one day, so they don't care about fixing things for themselves today."

America is an EMPIRE. That is the short explanation.

I can't you how much I enjoyed this article. Like Bgamall4 said, it gets better as it goes on.

One concept that came to mind:

Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity.

Here's a talk by the Author of the Article and associated book. Gonna pick this one up for Kindle for sure.

Another author on a similar subject, which contrasts the collapse of the Soviet Union with a projected collapse of the USA, Dmitri Orlov.
