All new additions are closed as of 7pm. All mail entries have been received and are posted, so if your letter didn't get to me on time please make other arrangements if you still want to participate. Now is our chance to get rich! For this Friday's drawing. This might be the biggest jackpot in history and estimated to be over $540 million. Any winnings totaling over $100 will be allocated per share based on the amount of money you "invest" in the pool. Any tax consequences are the responsibility of each individual winner. Rules

* $1 = 1 share.
* Any winnings will be collected as lump sum cash option and not an annuity.
* You can put in as much or as little as you want in whole dollar amounts. (within reason)
* Checks are okay but if they bounce your shares will be invalidated and I'll hunt you down.
* Winnings less than $100 will be donated to Patrick.net instead of split into little pieces.
* Money received late by mail will be put in the 4/3/12 drawing.
* ALL numbers will be quick pick and ALL numbers will be posted on this page by 7:30pm Friday evening before the drawing begins.

* You're welcome to participate even if you think I suck.

I think I'll just burn money in an open wok and hope that the offering will entice a solid-gold meteor to land in my yard. I know of some people who won huge jackpots, and those get-rich-quick stories did not end well.

The cash value is 359 million. There is probably a roughly 25% chance you'd have to split it in such a large drawing. The cash value of lesser prizes is significant and would help your odds even further. This lottery is state tax exempt and I believe federal taxes would be capped at 25% Believe it or not, this drawing is probably an even game or better. If no one wants to join me, I'll be writing my next rants from my yacht. ;-)

This has been done before although on a smaller scale. The problems are: 1. Filling out 175 million tickets in 2 days and..... 2. The risk of multiple winners diluting the jackpot below profitability. As little as one dollar gets you the excitement of maybe winning. That's a screaming deal compared to $10 for a movie ticket to a Hollywood movie that might bore you enough to leave before its over.

Fingers Crossed. :-) Speaking of "fingers crossed", I had a manager a number of years ago who would always say that phrase when we moved some updated software to the production system. I guess it's worked because we never had to roll back the updates. Good COBOL code!
