Republicans are refusing to pass most legislation in the House

Even bipartisan legislation. Even the necessary federal highway bill that passed in the Senate by 74 votes.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/wonkbook-congress-fails-on-infrastructure-again/2012/04/02/gIQARwrcqS_blog.html

Republicans are total failures at running government. How long until the approximately 50% of American voters who are holding this country hostage realize this?

Actually Republicans do have a plan to move the bill forward: Speaker John Boehner wants to start allowing earmarks again. Sometimes you just gotta laugh.

The real tragedy, and this is indefensible by the right, is that the Democrats attempted to pass all kinds of neglected legislation (the transportation bill is left over from 2005) however Republicans have effectively shut down ALL legislation in the Senate since Democrats took over in 2007.

Those of you who still cling to the desperate hope that both parties are exactly the same need to look at the facts and stop with the cliches.

Kind of a dumb argument dude.

How many bills have the Democrat controlled Senate refused to pass that made it through the Republican controlled House? Ryan plan anyone?

Worse, the Democrat controlled Senate hasn't passed a single budget in 3 years! And you want to blame this all on Republicans? Up is down. Black is white.....

The Ryan plan is the stupidest most vile piece of sewage every proposed by any party in any era. The ONLY people who support the Ryan plan are those who are bloody ignorant about what it says. Cap my taxes at 25%? Cut capital gains again? Works for me........I'll suck up the last few crumbs and move to South America before the entire country descends into a 50-year depression.

Furthermore the Republicans do not get dictatorial powers because they have the House majority. For 200 years legislation passed both houses because of compromise. Now we have a Republican party that refuses to compromise.

Result? Republicans can't even pass Republican bills. What's so amazing about the transportation bill...........the transportation bill of 2005, is that it's a fucking Republican bill. Your idiotic party can't even pass its own legislation let alone work with Democrats on compromise.

Anyone who utters the phrase "Democrat controlled Senate" without any mention of the filibuster rule is spewing right-wing propaganda and should be ignored. The reason you don't mention it is because it doesn't exist in your sphere of reality.

There's no ideological debate in America anymore. Most public discourse is the left trying to convince the right what reality is.

Yes - up is down, and black is white.

When Obama and the Democrats had near super MAJORITIES in all 3 branches of the Federal Government, the Senate still couldn't pass a budget.

So what are we to do? Blame the Republicans!

First let us clarify the truth as opposed to your alternate reality, which in this case is somewhat bizzare:

    1. Supermajority in the House has no meaning because there is no filibuster rule in the house. That's branch one.
    2. Supermajority in the Supreme Court has no meaning because it's not a fucking legislature. However there has been a Republican majority in the Supreme Court since Reagan. That's branch two.
    3. The Supermajoirty in the Senate lasted from July 8, 2009 to September 25, 2009. During much of that period, the Senate was out for Summer recess. The only major piece of legislation Democrats were able to get passed was health care reform. There wasn't time for anything else.

socal, you are the PERFECT representative of the Republican right. Totally ignorant of reality.

Again I find myself wasting time trying to convince you of what reality is instead of discussing ideology. This is the fundamental problem with America today. You simply do not exist in the real world and you just proved it. (again)

I would ask you to list the last 4 years of ball kicking madness, I mean the SPECIFIC actions that you hate so much, but we both know you couldn't list them.

Oh yeah you might manage "OBAMACARE!" and "BAILOUTS!" but that's about it. You actually don't give a shit that Obamacare is mostly Newt Gingrich's old health care plan, or that Bush was the signer on far more bailouts than Obama, but otherwise you'd be mute. You have nothing. You know nothing. If it's not on Hannity and Savage, you can't talk about it.

Iwog - you are the PERFECT representative of the Liberal Left. Always got to blame the "other". It's never their fault.

It was not enough to give the Democrats, the House, Senate and the Presidency in 2008. The Democrats could only get things done if they had absolute power.

I don't recall Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton or Bush II having Obama type majorities in Congress. Yet they managed to compromise with the other party to get legislation passed let alone passing a budget.

And don't even start with the fillibuster as it was the Democrats in the Senate that started using it on everything to block Bush's judicial nominees. Goose gander and all that.

So cry me a river. Obama and the Democrats had a chance to do something great and focus on getting our economy and longterm entitlements sorted. Instead, they followed Rahm Emannuel's advice to "never let a crisis go to waste" and they wasted all of their political capital on a crappy healthcare bill that didn't even include severability and will likely be tossed out by the Supreme Court.

You wont talk about specifics. I always talk about specifics. You're not in the real world.

None of those presidents had to fight the propaganda machine that is wrecking this nation. Repealing the fairness doctrine ensured that public opinion mirrored whoever spent the most money. The rise of suicide politics is the rise of Newscorp.

In case you're going to respond with something silly like "But but you can't blame FOX!" please explain to us how Hitler came to power and was able to commit atrocities without propaganda? Propaganda is a tool of war, and in this case a tool of the right wing against America.

The House Democrats only need to pass one piece of legislation. That bill should say that unless the health care system, etc. are reformed to the satisfaction of the House, the income tax rates return to the 1955 levels adjusted by the CPI. Then the Republicans would cave on everything else to prevent that from happening.

FFS - you are even reaching for the Hitler card? Are you really this delusional that you believe the majority of the US and international media are not in the tank for Obama and the Democrats?

Here's a deal, the Democrats can have Fox News and Talk Radio if Republicans get editorial control over NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, NYTimes, Washington Post, LATimes, NPR, and PBS.

    And don't forget the HufPo.

Talk about dog wagging, look in any community on Craigslist, and you'll find no less than about 4 grassroots(?) organizations, hiring people for 24K a year to spread Liberal lies and half truths, just like the Patneters are doing for free. But for the life of me, I can't find a single conservative operation. Just how are the GOP gaining all of power and control over people if they don't have and army of misinformation minions?

I'm going to apply to as many as I can simultaneously, and try to work for about 4 or 5 at one time, then use my time to do Conservative bidding.

I implore all of the GOP patneters to do the same. We must infiltrate, and destroy this evil movement, it is a cancer on the fabric of our society.

The Muslim brotherhood is coming to America, we can't afford 4 more years with a Muslim President.

Ok. Republicans baaaaaaddd. Democrats gooooood. The bill still provides dictatorial powers to Obama, a bill your supreme leader signed. What is there to understand here?

I really don't care. This country is destined for dictatorship as every world superpower democracy eventually succumbs to dictatorship. It's inevitable and your friends at Fox are helping to accomplish this far ahead of schedule. Greece, Rome, France, England, and many others have done exactly that.

Should Obama have vetoed the NDAA? Yes. Is the passage of the NDAA more important than the economic issues that will destroy our economy? Absolutely not. Dictatorships and revolutions arise out of economic chaos, not obscure provisions buried in defense authorizations.

So basically Obama is playing with matches while you and your psychopath friends are using a flamethrower on an oil refinery. You're so manipulated and brainwashed that all Fox has to do is use the word "Muppet" in a single broadcast and they've got you parroting it a hundred times on a message board.

Do you have any idea how pathetic this makes you look?

Yes I'm a FOX bot, I spent the whole day over at FOX perusing the news, and it was refreshing to read news, that didn't have mean spirited hateful comments, or race baiting news articles, or news stories telling us how bad Christians are and what great people the Muslim brotherhood are.

I've been told by CNN's reporting, their commenters that are allowed to post what every they want at will that supports CNN"s agenda, while suppressing counter arguments, I've been told by you and many petty Patnet posters that have no respect for other people with counter ideas, that I most definately do not want anther 4 year Democrat administration.

Maybe oneday you guys will grow up, and a pair, and become your free thinkers, and vote Independent, instead of towing the party line.

But until then I'm getting my news from FOX. I'm done with the vile disgusting hate that the Liberal media spreads, while accusing republicans for their sins.

How long until the approximately 50% of American voters who are holding this country hostage realize this?

Liberals have no respect for people that don't tow their agenda, thanks for admitting that. Now the healing can begin. Stop hating Iwog, stop blaming the GOP for all of your hatred. You can love it's in their somewhere just let it out.

It's O.K.... Iwog, look at me, it's OK, it's OK look at me Iwog, it's OK...

How do you know how many years he attended church?

What did you ride up his ass for 20 years. You just know what his creators told you.

OMG you're right!!!!!! That must have been fake too! All those fake friends and fake church leaders giving fake interviews about fake sermons and fake bake sales.

Obama's daughters received fake Baptisms (those records must have been faked too) by Reverend Wright, which we all know is a fake pastor talking about his fake memories.

This REALLY makes me want to be a Republican...........

I'm not really a liberal and much of my "agenda" is very conservative.

I don't even watch Fox. And could care less.

You should Cloud, the Liberal media works over time to brainwash how bad Fox news while the Liberal news spreads lies and hate. It's a real double standard. Go read news articles at Foxnews then read articles at CNN, notice the news content, and the theme, they hate America they really do. Also read and compare the comments that are allowed on the sites.

The Picture of CNN is a vile and disgusting hateful spin propaganda machine that the Left accuses Foxnews of.

    Cloud--

So, do you believe that Wall St. bankers vote Democratic?

Just a yes or no will suffice.

At least Iwog is making reasonable arguments based on facts, and not just spewing emotional reasoning.

There are some respectable conservative types on Patnet, I think. Rootvg and FortWayne come to mind.

But it seems like there are quite a few "unhinged" far-right types on here spewing the same talking points I can get from AM radio. Cloud, TPB/CaptainShuddup, and HonestAbe come to mind.
