Since then the whole Republican party has been nothing but a stream of lies and propoganda. There was plenty of lies and propaganda before 1980, too. Just look at the Vietnam War.

Yeah, I agree, but the Republicans have been more of a proactive to screw stuff up bamboozlement, and the Democrats have been a more passive, not fixing what they said they would fix bamboozlement. There is just no significant machine on the left that actively tries to misinform, obfuscate and deny facts.
