There is something utterly despicable about groups, particularly so-called public servants, who are willing to throw innocent people into prison to maximize their own profits. And the best way of incarcerating innocent people is to turn them into guilty people by outlawing a medicine that some people legitimately need to stop severe pain. And I've never smoked pot or cigarettes in my life, so I have no vested interest either way.

It's particularly snafu because the alcohol industry is one of the main lobbyists, and alcohol is the real gateway drug.

Let's at least give some of them the benefit of the doubt.

They too, are manipulated by unconscious minds.

The movie "REEFER MADNESS" was virtually part of everyone's education through the 50s & 60s? Didn't that movie destroy authoritative credibility for you ? Many people had no reason to discredit the content. They probably still fear that the crazed colored madman attitude will run right OUT OF CONTROL and turn ALL the priests into molestors, or worse. HAHAHA !
OOORRRR ! The A.M.A. would lose most of their hypochondriac income and much more from the decline of legitimate ailments visits. Some claim it cures cancer. After the deception, fraud and thievery exposed in our credit crisis. I believe a cure would be contained, just to hoard profits.

Never heard of that, but found it on You Tube quickly.

Nevertheless, that might be an excuse for politicians, but it certainly does not explain the particular special interest groups that are for outlawing marijuana, which so happen to be made up of people who directly profit from imprisoning marijuana users or who would directly loose profits if people switched from their goods to an alternative.

Why is this any surprise? Follow the money to explain any illogical political action. Why you think you had the stupid 55mph for so long for example. Insurance companies made billions on raising rates on people who got speeding tickets. They used to give very expensive radar guns to police if they wrote a minimum number of tickets a month. They fought the repeal tooth and nail.

It's not that it's a surprise, it's that things like this need to be reported in blogs since they aren't reported in the mainstream media. That way public support for these groups wanes.

You are exactly right. I apologize for not including your noted profit motivators in my first response. I assumed the profit reasons were implied.
Like Upton Sinclair noted, " It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his income is dependent on him NOT understanding it".
Congratulations on your never using a controlled substance. I was so relieved when Clinton vowed he never inhaled. I do not believe I know anyone who has not tried Cannabis, including C.E.O.s, small business owners and one musician. This silly battle has been fought for half a century and is being mocked by all. This battle destroys credibilty for our leaders. You may know someone suffering from Tobacco or alchohol related Illness. But there are zero cases of Marijuana related diseases.

I believe you are exactly right. The ONLY reasonable purpose for our gubmint's dope policy is profit.

Actually, prescription drugs are controlled substances and I've been on Oxycontin this weekend after having a deep molar removed. Without the controlled substance, the pain would be unbearable. Of course, Novacane would be even better if you didn't have to inject it. It's amazing how effective novacane is at blocking pain. Whoever invented it is awesome.
I don't know much about Marijuana since all political issues get flooded with misinformation. I've heard it kills brain cells, and that alone would make me disinterested in it. Of course, that could just be pure propaganda. My main issue is with politicians, who have no medical knowledge, passing policies written by special interest groups without the public's interest at heart. In a sensible system, the community of medical doctors would decide which drugs should be illegal, prescription only, or over-the-counter.

this is just furthering the disinformation campaign. Sugar is the gateway drug. You don't believe me? Go without it for ten days. And i don't mean go with out those four scoops in each of your morning cups of joe, i mean nix sugar from your diet completely, for ten days. The withdrawal is similar to what opiate users go through when detoxifying from heroin.
I think that the roots of prohibition surround Hemp, more so than Marijuana itself. Not one in the same. Hemps industrial uses were found to be so great, that the landed wealth folk that loathe Capitalism and prefer to utilize the USfedgov for profits via regulatory capture, made sure that they wouldn't have to compete. Think Calif media magnate William Randolph Hearst. If you don't know the background of him and prohibition, it is interesting research. Also at the time (first GD), he colluded with the Duponts who had invented a new synthetic fibers.
The ironic part, is that this country was built on Hemp, and decriminalization could pave the path to a new economic freedom, as the benefits of both hemp in industry and MMJ in medicine, are limitless
after being imprisoned for personal possession, no chance will i ever get on board with any form of american government, until they stop these barbaric actions. Rich Californians and their ilk love to go on and on about the need for more government and more laws (to protect us lol), i'd wager they've never been locked in a people cage, nor had to suffer through a legalized B&E, and had their house ransacked by simpletons with guns and badges, or had their property confiscated by the State. They don't seem to understand why laws are made in the first place, i guess they don't teach Bastiat in those fancy 100M+ mega complex "education" factories

The worst part is the government employed prison guards can make like 120k a year EZ in CA and on top of that get a fat pension like all cops.
We ended slavery and renamed it 'war on drugs'. I suppose its more fair since now slavery is open to all races. Anyone locked in a cage is a slave, thats my simple definition of it.

Have you ever met a human that believes in marijuana prohibition
Its easy to finger those who benefit from it in its current form. I remember reading something back around when shit was hitting the fan hard with the banks (indymac), that the dlack market drug trade propped up the banks, because it keeps so much cash circulating
People to this day pay 60USD for a heavy 3 grams of high grade bud. Thank god for calif and colorado, or we'd still be stuck with that poor excuse for good bud that canada used to flood us with. Especially after the currency went from 1.0/1.5 to parity

Yes.
I have argued this subject with extended family and AFAIK I'm the only one that has ever favored ending marijuana prohibition. A few are even self-described Libertarians. OK what they USUALLY mean when they say this, is they support Ron Paul or some other fuzzy definition of Libertarian. So you can't even say that all Libertarians support legalization. A great many voters have been programmed for generations that it's a "gateway drug", and a few minutes here and there of counter-argument is insufficient to dislodge that deep-seated belief.

This scene from "Louis CK", has got to be one of the all time greatest rips, for those with just a little insight.
The 5hp bong is one thing, but the response to the gay question titilates me. Ok so how do you spell titilates ?
Now reduce to writing why you are not.

Marketing is a powerful tool. Do you understand why Corporations spend millions on Nascar. The loyalty is phenomenal.

Ask those that wish to protect you, what they know about the growing addiction of debilitating drugs like Heroin or Crack. The word "gateway" is just a fear mongering devise. Drug problems have been around for decades now, and all the bad news is about Mexican cartels killing each other over profits. Use of ANY drug was allowed for thirty years in Amsterdam and the population of addicts remained flat.
Ask if they believe he didn't inhale.
