This technology might be worth following. Should be beneficial for various applications. Is it worth investing in ?

This has been thought up before because it's better to have something like that in an area where the wind is more steady which makes the whole thing way more viable. Article fails to mention cost of the electricity produced by this wind turbine though.

Ha ha read the comments congratulations Liberals, between the political glad handing, the no question asked loans to questionable green companies with less than honest motives, and the sheer portion of greed profit motives behind any and all things green. That derechible has a better shot at being Pink Floyd's next tour moniker than a viable energy option.

There are few places where windmills work but they often don't run when the energy is actually needed the most, i.e. hot sunny days.
So, they are superfluous and an added unnecessary expense to the power grid. They are essentially a waste unless you live in the Gaspe Peninsula of Quebec, or similar. These locations are extremely few.
For the occasional grinding of grains I hear they're pretty good. Pumping water sometimes also works.
I would not "invest" in anything that is so non-productive in general and useless in particular.
Apple, Exxon, Pfizer, Caterpillar, Deere, Monsanto, Ford, they make things and sell them.

Could just put them in trees

Big projects are OK but they are more expensive and require more labor, time and approval.

This one is exempt from any zoning.

There may be niche and or temporary markets that may benefit from something like this but as a long term solution I wouldn't count on it. I can't imagine the military being too interested in such a thing (big consumer of temporary power) as its WAY too easy to just shoot down.

The only high volume wind power solution I liked was the idea of re purposing old oil platforms to be used for offshore wind turbines. That cuts the capital costs and saves everyone the trouble of demolishing the platforms.

Damn that's cool, but I bet my HOA won't let me have one.

Let's get creative; maybe you can stick your satellite DISH on the balloon.
