The Post interviewed several former classmates of Romney who recalled that he orchestrated the incident in which the presumed gay student, John Lauber, was tackled and pinned to the ground by a group of students, who wanted to cut the student's bleached-blond hair.
"As Lauber, his eyes filling with tears, screamed for help, Romney repeatedly clipped his hair with a pair of scissors," the Post reported.
I've known plenty of sadistic people like Romney and I've known plenty of stoners like Obama might have been in high school. One type of person grows up to be a great productive guy with lots of friends and one type of person I wouldn't move a finger to save from drowning.
I'll let you Republican lemmings guess which is which. This story sickened me today and that doesn't happen often.

To Romney's base, this story will have some appeal.
I don't think y'all really understand. I was at a Baptist wedding a couple of weeks ago where the preacher took time to explain how "serious" marriage is, and one element was that it doesn't consist of Bob marrying Joe and other such nonsense.
Yeah. Mittens credibility will rise a notch among the gay-bashing group.

You didn't do any dumb things?
I remember when I moved to SoFla at the age of 18. Only knowing Solid Gold as the hit 80's t.v. show, I was looking for an easy job in the classifieds. I saw an ad for Solid Gold dancers...
Now where I grew up, there wasn't any strip clubs, so I had no idea what it was. I was thinking sporting a gold sequin suit and dancing with hot babes in between Party Marty Hardy's comedy monologue sets. So called them up. Let's just say it made their day. I remembered that the other day and pissed my pants laughing.

There is something distinctly unpresidential about this statement.
When a President has held a man down and shorn him, he should understand perfectly whether or not he transgressed.

Off the subject slightly, but at the fancy prep school I attended there were a lot more than your usual contingent of gay students. I sometimes wonder why? They were nice guys of course. Except one guy named Andre.
He was a really built wrestler and he would magically appear in the showers at the most inopportune time for the straight dudes like me who weren't into butt piracy, "not that there's anything wrong with that".
A couple other dudes who were obviously gay were popular.
Some guys later admitted that their first sexual experience was with another guy while at our school. Now, that was actually a shock to me when I heard about it a couple years later.
We knew about gays, but somehow at age 17 you really thought of them as just sissies or weird. I think it hardly entered our heads what gay guys actually did to each other.

I'm not sure what is wrong with that. He's been pulled up on things he did a very long time ago (and at a time when attitudes about many things were very different to how they are now) and he's apologized for it.
We aren't talking criminal activity here, so the only concern should be what he's like now and what you think of his policies.

Two things Romney is lying about. 1. That he doesn't recall the incident. 2. That no one thought about sexual orientation in the mid sixties at prep schools. ( I went to a prep/boarding school a few years later in the late 60's , though not the snooty type that Romney attended.) Other then that it just shows he was power hungry and an asshole. If that was disqualifying from the Presidency doubt we would have many of the past presidents. If one has any interest in prep school life in the mid 60's the article in the Post is worth a read it is well done researched piece of journalism, and not all of it is anti Romney.

You have to wonder what is up with Romney that he is so fascinated with hair styling.
Most high school kids are so shit face and so busy eating pussy and fucking that they have no idea what is happening around them, much less organizing an assault hair styling session with their friends.
Why was young Mitt so overwhelmed by the victim's tresses?

This has nothing to do with national policy. I consider Romney a worse choice than Obama because his stance on corporations is moronic and he'll likely give in to some very dangerous tea party demands.
This speaks to his character. As far as I'm concerned, he's a POS human being and the fact it happened decades ago doesn't change that.

Dangerous tea party demands, oh scary!
That's mean fucking with some guys hair. I'm upset.
But it's nothing like leaving a woman to suffocate in a bubble of air in a car under the Dyke bridge like Teddy.
Nothing like Edwards fucking some random strange nutcase and shutting her up with hush money he was afraid to take out of his own checking account.
It couldn't be like being a pothead and coke head through high school, and calling Rev. Wright your "mentor".
No way, hazing a guy when you are high school shows very bad character.
He's just that close to a serial killer! No, maybe he IS a serial killer who was not caught! You can never tell with these guys.

I'm not saying that the man is beyond redemption. Romney was a teenager, high as Charlie Sheen in a DEA evidence warehouse on pubescent testosterone. It's patently obvious that he's a different man today.
The problem is that he's speaking like a cad with a hangover on the night after a cocktail party. This is simply not how the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth ought to speak.
Furthermore, Presidents don't apologize over inconsequential garbage like this; and when they do apologize, they take real accountability. "If anybody was hurt or offended" when I unleashed my barberous side on a man I ordered restrained --this is the language of bullshit. Involuntarily shearing your fellow man is unlike mispronouncing his name: it is an unambiguously offensive and hurtful thing to do to him.
An appropriate response might admit fault, definitely expresses regret, and can makes the distance clear without seeming like it excuses the act (avoid the word 'but'.) A Presidential way to put it might be: "The incident in question is shameful, and I deeply regret it. I ask the American people to judge me not as the boy I was, but as the man I am."

I had no problem with gays as a teenager. I believe in equality under law and that means gays can marry.

Romney's way more of a pussy than McCain. Interesting that your idea of a tough guy, or bravery, is cutting some (presumably) effeminate guys hair while other guys hold him down.
That's not being a tough guy or hard ass. That just makes him the worst kind of asshole, and not in any conceivably good way.

It wasn't a gay friendly world when he was a youngster (and we should remember, it still isn't). There was also a great deal less awareness let alone understanding of a great many things back then. He was a kid. Kids do bad things. Then they grow up... and maybe they continue to do bad things... maybe they change. Really, it's pretty pathetic dragging up this sort of crap. What's so difficult about focusing on what he has done as a political figure and what he intends to do?

He's filled out his application for the job of President, passed his phone screen, and is sitting in the American public's office being interviewed. We are trying to decide if he's fit for the job, based on how he performs for us.
The distinction you're drawing is not substantive.

ummmm , now I may be wrong .... but ..... the only way a stated policy can be counted on being carried out is if the promise is made by a person with character.

I'd committed one act of bullying. I'd pushed a kid out of a swing set at the age of 8 & I wasn't egged on by others. Instead, I was in a bad mood that day and wanted to take it out on someone who I thought couldn't fight back.
Well, although he wasn't hurt anymore than the minimal time he'd landed on the ground, I was never happy about that incident since then.
Sorry, but I don't buy excuses from bullies. Either you're an A-hole or you screwed up. That's all there is to it. If I were running for office, I'd admit that I pushed a kid off a swing set and apologize for it. Yes, I Rin, f'ed up that day, many decades ago.

libs are a funny bunch ..... Lord Barry makes up shit as he goes, and it's all good ...... Romney makes a sissy boy feel bad about himself and all hell brakes loose! lol
How did that bossman from Isreal feel when Lord Barry dissed him at supper? I know, that don't matter.
How did those cops feel when Lord Barry said, "they acted stupidly", just becasue they did their job and the issue happened to be a negro?
How should Sheriff Joe and the citizens of Az feel with Lord Barry attacking them for wanting a safe and secure border and no more invasion?
I got picked on, just as all my buddies did and all of those before us. Every kid is either the bully or the target and the rolls change. Every kid that was a target got joy from watching their bully getting picked on by his bully. Right now I feel I am being bullied by activist judges in the Cal Courts that are forcing libtopian horseshit down my throat, inspite of what the ballot box says .... I feel bullied by the invaders from mexico that have flipped reality to a point where we must push 1 for english, but nothing is mentioned about Italian, German, Russian, Chineese, or any other lingo ..... I feel bullied by the liberal/progressive dope-smokers that control the educational system (I say dope-smokers, because they MUST be on drigs to come up with their stupid shit) .... I feel bullied by the wealth transfer system that takes money from producers and hands it to breeders without any restriction in use .... I feel bullied by the anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-normal, scum that can't read and understand the friggin constitution as it is written, so they dream up some weird ass bullshit instead for the lib-tilted supreme court to vote on. Yep, bullies suck, and liberal/leftist/progressive dope-headed pukes are the worst bullies America has ever produced. Lord Barry' pals Rom E and Eric H are the King Supreem Bullies. Say no to bullies!
EPA - bully
ACLU - bully
IRS - bully

So the son of the Governor has a group of friends he can command to hold down a weaker one and cut him up.
Sounds a lot like his adult life at Bain Capital, preying on the weak, picking companies apart.
I do see a pattern.

You're missing the point. Desire has nothing to do with it. The man who represents our nation on the world stage needs to come off a certain way. Gravitas is not optional.
Granted, this is a particularly difficult spot in which to affect it. But he also failed particularly miserably.
Obama also had a long way to go when he got the job. During the first few months of his Presidency, it was not uncommont to catch him saying 'I' when articulating, for example, the foreign policy of his administration. He's picked it up on the job.
And Romney's not running against Senator Obama. He's running against President Obama. It's a little shocking that Romney's having trouble with this, of all things. One would think that with that stick up his ass, he'd have an easier time emulating backbone on camera.
