Sorry if the question is a bit rude.

But the home prices in Southern California is a joke to me.

Especially places like Beverly Hills where the prices are completely idiotic and only a moron would pay $600,000 for a 1 bedroom 1.5 bathroom condo with a pathetic 972 sq feet living area and than have huge association fees.

Perfect example http://www.redfin.com/CA/Beverly-Hills/439-N-Doheny-Dr-90210/unit-205/home/6821120

And don't say that Beverly Hills is not the norm in southern california and Beverly Hills is an exception to pricing...

That's realtard logic. Beverly Hills at one time collapsed 50% in prices during the early 90's.

I've also looked at other neighborhoods in southern california from ghettos to middle class to affuelent.

All of them are extremely overpriced.

Don't me wrong. I'm from Long Island and the prices here are also very very high. They are above the national average when they shouldn't be.

But Southern California is completely ridiclous. The homes are so many times over-priced compared to Long Island and what you can buy for the money in VERY comparable areas.

Not that Long Island is by any means reasonably priced but Southern California prices would make you think Long Island prices are reasonable, which of course they are not.

Agree. I don't know how anyone making less than 6 figures can afford to live there. California has nice weather, but is it worth it to spend your whole life as a slave (to Your Bank or Your Landlord)?

    They can't afford it.

They do it on credit offered by their masters like the good little Rothschild slaves that they are.

Gas prices in Southern California is also completely sky high. Then you add in the crazy traffic even on the damn freeways and highways which burns more gas than normal along with the long commuting from work to home...

It really is not afforable to live here unless you are a professional or celebrity making a high salary or you have a lot of financial reserves.

And the job prospects? You can forget about that. The job market is horrible there. Not that Manhattan is any good but the rest of New York is much much better in the job market for those seeking employment.

My bad. I meant Southern CA.

Both actually are not afforable. But Southern CA is the worst offender when you add in sky high living costs, traffic, long commuting from work to home, expensive gas prices and poor job market.

Yeah the property taxes on LI are massively sky high.

Mainly because of the school unions with their never-ending lists of demands and entitlements.

School unions, school districts and free public education is to be blamed for the majority of your criminally expensive property taxes.

The villages and towns are also demanding a lot but not as sky high as the socialist public education crooks.

Property taxes are unconstitutional. And public education should be banned completely from the US.

It is not the government's job to babysit your children and the government should stay out of people's personal lives.

Education should be privatised completely. State exams like the Bar Exam should be allowed for anyone to take and pass without any college. Just an internship, working in the field.

College subdisidies should be completely eradicated as well. No government students loans should exist.

Public education is unconstitutional anyway. Not that it is effective at all. It is actually a failure.

People are paying the absurd prices thanks to the FHA government subprime program... 3.5% down, 620 credit score is all you need, income I hear is also not well checked.

Buy the home then wait for the bailout ;) Good strategy...
