Bradenton, Florida -- A Manatee County woman is facing charges after she allegedly solicited an undercover deputy for sex... in return for some McDonald's.
The Smoking Gun reports Christine Baker, 45, met with the undercover on Friday evening. According to Baker's arrest report, she offered to have sex with the detective if he "bought her two double cheeseburgers off the dollar menu at McDonald's."
After spending $2.75 on the food, Baker reportedly asked for a "tip," at which time the detective gave her $60. She then kept $40 and the food and directed him to drive them to a vacant parking lot to "complete the deal."
It was at that point she was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor prostitution charge.

You know what I think about?
That cop.
If he's any kind of human, he's got to feel sad his "job" is interacting with people this far down in their lives, so you can put them in jail. I'd feel more like buying the Mickey-D's and pointing them at a shelter or other help.
*shrug*

He really wanted to give her his Big Mac... a one way trip to McDonaldland.
She's a 'tute. The cheeseburgers were a way to sell the deal. I doubt that she's starving because of the "tip" issue, which she knew to ask for.

Compassion and humor are not mutually exclusive. Neither is compassion something to be dulled out like McDonalds fries. It's something that should be directed to someone in need.
Getting arrested for a minor offense is hardly the end of the world.
However, I would agree with you that the state has no right to make prostitution illegal and that doing so is a violation of the First Amendment's protection of freedom of religion. After all, all prostitution laws are simply religious laws masquerading as "secular interests" just like intelligent design was code for creationism.
But that's a whole different issue.
To conclude, my compassion is real whereas your rage is fake.
Oh, and I'm not a leftist. Go ask any of the real leftest and they'll call me a neo-con, which I'm also not. It's sad that most Americans today cannot see anything but their identity and their mirror opposites. It's the sign of a weak mind.

Dudes pay for dinner, movie, drinks, all in a blatant attempt to get laid, all the time. Why should a simpler system be illegal?
Legalize the activity, zone a city for the area, and tax it. Keeps the women safer and courts clear.

What do I get if I offer fries with that?
Supersize it. That's what she said.
What's in the special sauce?
Take a look at these two all beef patties.
Oh, I could go on and on...

The same reason we have the ludicrous and offensive phrase "in god we trust" on our money: we don't have real separation of church and state in our country. Never had. We still have to fight to get that.
Every justification for outlawing prostitution could easily be applied to drinking, smoking, gambling, religion, and/or a host of other legal activities. Prostitution is illegal simply because the Jesus freaks don't want it to be legal. It offends their fictitious god just like homosexuality does, and remember that was illegal not too long ago -- and actually still is in most states due to "anti-sodomy" laws.
But at least homosexuality has protection from the left, whereas the left also attacks prostitution and pornography because of pseudo-feminism, the political philosophy that the rights and interests of men and women are a zero-sum game.
Since you have assholes on both sides against a basic human right, choosing one's own sexual activities, the freedom is removed. This would happen to religion or voting or any other freedom is the majority wanted it removed. Our liberty is built on a castle of sand, the whim of the unwashed, uneducated, unintelligent masses.
What pisses me off about the subject isn't the actual loss of opportunity to participate in that activity, but rather that the state should even have the presumption that it has the right to ban such an activity.
Then again, I believe in small government, unlike the left or the right. And in small government, the only rights the government has are those given to it by the people, and the people can only give the government rights that they already possess. Since I don't have the right to kill someone, I can't give that right to the state. Therefore, the state does not have the right to execute people. Same thing goes for banning prostitution, drug usage, creating no-fly lists, anti-nudity laws, and a billion other things that for some reason people accept the state should have the power, backed by violence, to enforce.
In a good system, the state does one thing: protect rights. ...human rights, civil rights, private property rights, public property rights (which is what all environmental issues are as well as public infrastructure issues). When the state goes beyond this field of responsibility, it commits more evil than good.

Bingo.
Selling the use of your body? People sell their bodies all the time.
Fitness Trainers, Wrestlers, Masseuses, Clothes Models, etc. all use their body for money.
Also, the brain is part of the body.
We never say, "Jillian Michaels/Tony Horton/Jack Lalane, you are selling your body!"
We never say "Sam Goldfarb, by selling your numerative abilities, you are prostituting yourself to the AP department - selling your body for money".
Just a brief aside for pseudo-feminists, skinny, tall size 0 models are not there because of heterosexual males, the vast majority of whom prefer voluptuous. If you'll notice, the fashion industry is dominated by straight women and homosexual males who have little sexual interest in females. They are there because tall, leggy women act as walking clothes racks for the product they are trying to sell.

I couldn't agree more. Just like we require restaurant workers to wash their hands after using the bathroom or put their hair in nets.

Dude, that's not a woman. That's Hurley from Lost.
Seriously, why are all prostitutes ugly as hell? And what guy would have sex with them even if it were free?

I prefer In-n-out Burger.
I feel sorry for the woman. She's trying to provide an honest service for an honest fee.
Not all of us can afford to go to Cartagena and snag the hot chicks down there on the taxpayer's dime.

right people do not hate those whom you may call the "untermench".
We just don't like someone stealing from us to provide them with sec.8 housing, food stamps, etc, etc.
I actually admire working people, and this woman is an entrepreneur operating a small home based business.
Her services are always in need and if she gives good service she will have a growing base of repeat customers.
I think they should either make marriage illegal or hooking legal, or preferably both.
Ask yourselves, why does the average woman 1. want marriage 2. hate prostitution?
Because women want the government IN your personal net worth to get some if you have a fight, and she wants the government to prevent fair competition for your sex "business".
If you think marriage is not trading sex for financial gain, ask a guy who is married and not getting any or has a fat slob old wife what he thinks about his arrangement.
Legalize hooking and make marriage illegal. That's the ticket.
