WatchWe reported a true story. One can argue about whether we got it at the right way or not, but number one a young George Bush -- there's no joy in saying this -- he got into a privileged National Guard unit, the so-called "Champaign Unit" to make sure that he wouldn't have to go to Vietnam. Then when he was in the unit he disappeared. He disappeared for a year while he was suppose to be on duty with the National Guard.
Now if you're a soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan and you disappear overnight, you are automatically AWOL, which is a very serious offense, and if you are gone for any length of time you are "deserted". We reported that story, not because of anything personal with George Bush, but if he's Commander in Chief of the U.S. military, this is information that people need.
But the powers that be in the corporate structure were very uncomfortable with the story. They got pressured by the Bush administration and others in Washington, and it costs a lot of good people their jobs including myself finally.
CBS Ousts 4 For Bush Guard Story
Since Dan Rather was kick off of CBS news for reporting a highly relevant and important true story, no one on the right gets to bitch and moan about the media having a liberal bias. We had to put up with all the bullshit birther controversies and the secret Muslim lies and the question of whether or not Elizabeth Warren had a Native American great-great-grandparent. And all those false stories aren't even important issues. But when an issue that is germane to leading the armed forces in a time of war is reported, the corporate overlords wrongfully fire people who have proven themselves over decades of service in order to cover up the issue.
Evidently, the truth is what the right calls "liberal bias".

Anyway, isn't military experience "irrelevant" based on the results of the 2008 election? We elected a Hawaiian stoner over a real war hero like McCain.
Are Obama and Democrat surrogates really going to go after Romney's sons for lack of service when Obama has such a shady history of taking drugs and hanging out with domestic terrorists and racist pastors when he could have served in uniform?
No one cares about this stuff any more. We have far more important things to worry about. The old rules where Liberals got to dominate the narrative and news cycle is coming to an end.

Birthers are nuts, but they didn't have major media organizations in their pocket using fraudulent evidence to push their conspiracies.
Don't forget the Michael Moore propaganda movies all during the Bush years where they even gave that dishonest hack a seat of honor next to Jimmy Carter during the 2004 Democrat Convention.
Are memories really so short that you forget all of the major Democrat political/media and pop-culture figures flirting with 9/11 Truther conspiracies? That's 1000X worse than the birther crap. The former being possibly the worst crime possible worthy of treason charges.
Then we have the whole Palin episode. Hundreds of reporters were digging through her trash in Alaska even suggesting that Trig was not her baby, yet nearly 4 years later we are still learning new things about Obama that weren't reported on in 2008.
I think the biggest piece of evidence that proves the suffocating liberal bias in our media is the massive popularity of Fox cable news. There are simply no other TV news outlets that don't toe the liberal line, so Fox gets all of the disenfranchised viewers.
UCLA even did a study quantifying the level of liberal bias in our media.

True, but being a deserter even in the National Guard is a serious offense. People have been hung or shot for being deserters. And the maximum penalty for desertion during wartime in the U.S. is still death. So, even the desertion is a pretty important issue when it comes to deciding who runs the military.

Michael Moore movies are clearly intended to persuade. However, that does not make them propaganda. The only mistake I know of in a Michael Moore movie is the one where he stated that the Cuban health care system was good. But that was just one leg of an argument with a dozen legs. His conclusions about the U.S. health care system were still correct and well supported.

The real story is who prepared the bogus documentation and made sure it got to Rather's producer - and why the forgers believed they needed to discredit a story about Caligutard going AWOL on a rich-kid's Air Guard unit.

So... You object to the fact that discussion of the issue itself (Bush's alleged desertion/AWOL from the National Guard) was clouded and undermined by the reporting of false information. In other words, you object to the fact that the question itself was changed.
Yet, you are perfectly happy with changing the question regarding Elizabeth Warren: Changing it to "whether or not [she] had a Native American great-great-grandparent" vs. the real questions: Did she lie or exagerate about her history in order to advance professionally, and was she honest about her recent reportings of her actions.

Arpaio is the chief law enforcement oficer in a county that has 4M residents. He has enough resources at hand, enabling him to investigate and recognize fake documents.
Only a fool thinks that he would lie about Obama's documents - his career and legacy would have been destroyed in an instant.
Given the fact that DoJ is in the midst of investigation against Arpaio, any lies told by him could be used by DoJ to attack him.
Obama did not hesitate to mock Trump. However, he is carefully avoiding engaging Arpaio in similar fashion.

I don't question Arpaio's resources. I question his intent. That baby killer constantly lies and abuses human rights. He is evil.
The DoJ isn't going to be interested in Arpaio's Obama bullshit as lying about the president's birthplace or service isn't a crime. The DoJ has many other more important reasons to land Arpaio's ass in jail.

No, the answer is clearly known. One cannot, by definition, unintentionally tell a lie. At worst, Warren might have been mistaken about her heritage due to incorrect information given to her from relatives while she grew up. And that's really grasping at straws. But a lie is an intentional misrepresentation of the truth, and that clearly does not apply to Warren.
It does, however, apply to every Republican office holder ever in the news. For example, Newt Gingrich attempted to remove a sitting president from office over a blow job while he was fucking women as his wife laid dying of cancer, and then he campaigned as a "family values" person. Now that's a big lie.
It's also a lie that materially interferes with the effective running of government and compromises national security by distracting the command-n-chief from essential duties to deal with a complete non-issue.
And I can give billions of other examples of Republicans lying constantly. I can also give plenty of examples of Democrats lying but their lies are nearly as outrageous or dangerous as the Republican ones. For example, when Democrats lie, millions of people don't get murdered, tortured, and rape like when Republicans lie.
Let's face it. The only reason that you right-wingers are attacking Elizabeth Warren on this non-issue, is that you would hate for her to successfully reform the financial system and this is the only straw you can see to grasp at.
But you know what, it's going to fail, and your side is going to look stupid for even attempting to block reform just like your side still looks stupid to this day for stalking Martin Luther King, Jr. and trying to stop the civil rights movement by character assassinating King over adultery.
And even though King did actually commit adultery, it had nothing to do with the civil rights movement or the correctness and weight of King's arguments for equal rights. And that character assassination didn't work, and it didn't stop the civil rights movement. The same damn thing is going to happen with financial reform. Your side is doomed to lose because the only way that your side can win is to completely destroy America's economy, and people aren't going to let that happen.
