So while you folks were probably polishing your shoes or something, I was in a parking lot waiting in line for a turn at a telescope. The 2012 Venus Transit.
As I get very near the front of the line, the nicely dressed lady at the front is suddenly joined by a man from nowhere. He asks if it's OK and nobody seems to mind. It takes me a few minutes to realize why he seems so familiar, it's:
He didn't hang around or anything, but I thought it was funny to run into Captain Kirk here in Davis.
Anyhow, here's my little photo through the viewfinder of the transit. Planet shown in lower right, the rest of the dots on the sun are sunspots.

Gentle Readers,
To have actually seen the Venus transit through a telescope, "pin hole", or dark glasses, or whatever was a moving experience. Looking at it on youtube wasn't the same. It just isn't.
