How ridiculous is it that known innocent people are left to rot in jail simply because our court system is so fucked up they don't have a procedure to release people who are proven not to have committed a crime?

Luckily, I have a solution. Elect me president in November, and I'll send in the military to force the jails and prisons to release the innocent prisoners. A couple of tanks and Apache helicopters with Hellfire missiles will motivate even the most stubborn bureaucracy to comply. And if any judge or lawyer has a problem with this, we'll just save a couple of Hellfires for them.

Well, actually the interpretation of and the implementation of the law have changed. It was open to interpretation due to how the state an federal laws were written.
For all intents and purposes, the law changed in NC-- after these people went to trial.
And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't call these people "innocents".

But I do think the Justice Dept should notify and allow them to take it to court. Their reasons for not doing so are a ridiculous.
