"The sheer size of the Roman Empire led to its collapse."

Size was a symptom, but I don't think it was size alone.

I think complacency led to the fall of the Roman empire.

Just like Americans take America's past achievements for granted, Romans took Rome's acquisitions, accomplishments, conquests for granted.
When people lose respect, tradition, and honor for their heritage. Then their culture is on borrowed time.

Much like what we have now, the youth revolt to care for the aging and elders of our society. It's been traditional a pact of honor that the youth of this country cared for the older citizens, if nothing but in the most indirect way. The Youth certainly never vocally criticized the arrangement as some burden. There's no imparting of knowledge from the experienced sages to the youth. As the young now know every damn thing.

Rome failed for the same reason we're failing.

The damn kids, just wouldn't listen. That's it, there wasn't some magic bullet that killed it, there wasn't a failure of the government, or a liquidation of the forces weakening their defenses.

The kids just knew better than the elders.

Oh baloney. Rome, like many societies before and after, fell because of devaluation of currency and expansion of government to protect and enrich a small group of elites called the super rich and the politicians. Social programs to buy votes (or royal favors to landowners in feudal societies, same thing) and tax laws to the advantage of the 1% along with currency devaluation to keep the illusion of prosperity going has killed society after society.

It won't be different this time. The only reason it seems worse is the rise of so many countries economies more or less at the same time after WWII.

Expansion brings greed, and it became too much to manage, IMO. But the essence of the article is that the Roman Empire is alive and well in the Square Mile, seat of world financial mayhem.

    That was a good angle.

Rome fell because Caligula kept fucking the horse in the ass instead of making sure the taxes were collected properly.

W - or the Caligutard, as he is known among the Illuminati - just swapped Victor Ashe for the horse (for fear of horses, rather than any objection to equine bestiality) and decided not to collect any taxes from other rich psychopaths.

History doesn't repeat itself as much as it fucks a horse of a different color.

Thanks, and it is pretty bizarre that these Roman "soldiers" would be named the official guardians of the Square Mile. There is a fable promoted by the Lord Mayor of the Square Mile, that says they were real giants that came from offspring of Diocletian. It is freaky, very bizarre.

Now we have Tim Geithner powerless to do anything about the UK libor scandal. But he knew about the scandal in 2008 and he gave his suggestions as one with no power.

Trust me, this article I have provided above is correct, the UK is the center of the financial world, not the USA!

Yes, of course, Tony. The original Square Mile. This city of London is the financial center of the entire world:

    http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation

The Queen bows to the Lord Mayor when she goes there. The two Roman statues, Gog and Magog, dressed in ROMAN SOLDIER uniforms, have "guarded" the Square Mile since the reign of Henry V.

And notice that London is now considered the world's greatest city: http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/

    Chilling.

Rome only failed temporarily. If Gog and Magog are Rome, and the statues of Gog and Magog guard the British empire, the new manifestation of the Roman Empire, that is pretty creepy don't you think? Have a look at some Roman ruins in the Square Mile that go with the statues of Gog and Magog:

Rome pretended to run the show while Hellas still ran the money and endured for another 1000 years after Rome cracked up, until Byzantium made a couple of fatal errors and succumbed to frankish treachery and turkish doggedness.

I figure the sacking of Rome in 410 AD was just a temporary hold up. After about a thousand years, the Gog and Magog statues were created.
