I'm a bit surprised that it does not support USB 3. I'm hoping that the WiFi is the new 802.11ac release. Even if it's only a draft release.

What the fuck are they calling it?
ZUNEPad?
Hey, Ballmer, no one will buy it, no matter how many chairs you throw at them!
Hahahahahaha!
Asshole!
Even a dead Jobs is 100000000x the CEO you are alive!

At the price point they suggest in the article, they won't get very many sales.

I find it all so sad. MicroSoft has been pushing the tablet for SO many years. One big announcement after another where they would try and propel it into market. I had an MS tablet like 10 years ago from work and liked it as an accessory toy. However it was always a money-losing hobby for them.
After Apple shows them how to do it right, bottom up from a smartphone starting point, they still can't even copy that into something that will grab people.
*sigh*

oh and AAPL is kicking butt all over again.
Microsoft is so incredibly lame.
The thing is just wifi so you will never see on in those thousands of ATT and Verizon stores.
They've always been copycats.

Apple could produce a keychain and the fanboys would make it a must have gadget. But it would be suicide for Microsoft to follow suit.
Metro is going to kill Microsoft. Microsoft users want a full blown Microsoft OS, not a stripped down version that runs a limited amount of apps.
MS would be smart to incorporate Kinect into a full blown multicore processor Tablet with all of the best new ports available.
USB3, Micro DV, HDMI, Firewire and card slot.
Tweak Kinect to understand a crude gesture sign language for typing, paging and scrolling.
That would be a game changer, trying to play Monkey see Monkey do with Apple... not so much.

There will be a pro version released after this one. The pro will use a Core i5 processor, have USB3 and run a full / real Win8. The one that was just announced uses an ARM processor with USB2 and Win8 RT.

I think Microsoft is missing the boat on user experiences.
With Kinect they could change EVERYTHING into exciting virtual experiences. Sick of just typing? Redraft the experience of typing as a sword fighting metaphor with numbers, represented by rival knights, monsters and wizards, that you slay appearing on the screen.
Just an order memo for paper clips could be an exhilarating romp!

The Surface seems to ROCK.
With real tactile feedback, you can do real *work*. The built in support makes working easier to. And I love how the keyboard is the cover.
I'm a buyer!

The only "innovation' by the "vapor Zunepad" is that it has a keyboard cover.
This little innovation will be immediately copied by Logitech if it's popular and people can put it on their iPads too.
Personally I like my Android phone, of course it's a ripoff of the iOS but it's pretty cool.
I would be interested in an Andriod tablet but so far they all suck compared to Apple.
The Google tablet nexus or whatever is nice. But, it's got a tiny 7" screen. That is so fuckin small.
The iPad is the correct size. I know this sounds like "limiting choice" and etc but it's the truth.
Ballmer is a "shithead who sucks" and therefore microsoft will not create anything original or good.
But some guys will maybe buy it to "declare their independence."

Perhaps it having USB wont matter much in the near future...
The consumer market seems to be copying the corporate IT services.
So your home may well have a central IT home server.. feeding your generic ready TV, PC, Phone, Tablet or what ever appliance all via wireless personal wifi, blue tooth, etc etc. Thus USB and other wired 'connections' are already obsolete.
AppleTV may well be close to iServer than most expect.

Will it support Flash? My iPad 2 feels limited in that regard. I can't do a lot of the work I would like to, and many sites are inaccessible. Honestly, it's become a toy for the kids. A $600 toy that does cheap video games and Netflix.
Sure it's powerful, but it's also fragile! It's amazing for what it can do, but I can't do so much. Just working with documents is hard enough. I can't even upload my docs to the share site I use. Have to go back to my laptop to get any real work done. iPad2 is a toy.

I'm glad that Microsoft & Apple are bringing jobs back to America.
Soon all their products will be marked Made in U.S.A.
Great patriotic corporations. ROFLMAO
