1. Atheists and agnostics don't like each other. Before, I always thought they were on the same "team."

2. Far-right propaganda is very effective.

3. There's just as much willful ignorance on the Far Left as there is on the Far Right.

4. Facts don't matter. People believe what they WANT to believe in spite of the facts.

5. It's possible for arguments over future house prices to become personal. Which is pointless, since no one knows the future.

6. Some trolls are professionals that like arguments for their own sake.

7. Race-war threads are the most popular.

8. Obama's skin pigmentation really does get to some people.

9. Some people really do think that they can get rich by having a mortgage.

10. I'm in the wrong business. I should have gone into banking and money lending. Engineering? Productive activity? That's for the Chinese to do.

Realtors, politicians, unions, and bankers are the biggest kinds of self serving liars in the world.

The more gullible you are, the more above mentioned groups will screw you.

There are still people who believe what politicians say, as long as it fits what they want to hear.

Investing can be risk free while slow and boring. Big money is in big gambles.

CA is a state with no private sector future.

"Affordable Care Act" (commonly known as Obamacare) is anything but affordable.

Ha. I think you're on to something. I use my blinders as much as possible these days. All the real estate markets are local. Some have hit bottom, some not. Bay area people should rent. And others should really save and buy with cash. Banks benefit if you let them. Don't get in bed with them.

    Good sum up to you.

I would take issue with number one. Because I think most atheists are not of the extremist variety who proselytize against religion and refer to agnostics as pussies who are just afraid of not being pc. It just so happens that we have one such atheist here, who is particularly (shall we say) obsessed.

Also number three. What is the far left ? Is there a far left in this country. Many of the people on this site who get hysterical about socialism, would label as socialist commentators here that are to the right of half the republicans in congress 35 years ago.

And I am not exaggerating. These people are totally owned by 21st century right wing propaganda.

If we had a left wing in this country, in the health care debate, we would have at least heard for one tiny minute some serious arguments for single payer.

Do you remember what happened ?

Please some examples of what you have heard on Patnet from the far left. You don't have to find the post. Just give a a brief summary as best you can recall.

I'd consider most of Dan8267's stuff to be Far Left. Then again, maybe it's just trolling and not genuine.

Yes, I think you are right that the Far Left doesn't get much traction in the US. It has more of a presence in Europe.

Like you say, it's the Far Right that's getting traction in the US. And that does worry me.

There isn't any legitimate political movement in this country that could be considered far left. The ones that come to mind are single issue and totally impotent like PETA and Greenpeace.

There are certainly individuals that qualify, but they are considered toxic by almost all Democrats so they aren't involved with the political process.

In contrast, the far right is becoming mainstream with some truly insane and destructive ideas getting traction. The Ryan act, a bill that would literally remove federal taxation from rich people, is the one that comes to mind. Another is the Supreme Court decision giving corporations unlimited power to corrupt the system with money. It is already in effect and tearing holes in our democratic process.

I learned so much from troy and patrick about georgism, land values (and taxing them, and economic rent. I'm fairly well educated, and up in the 1% of IQs, pretty well read, yet had never even heard of anything related to the machinations of classical economics. Id always had questions about how things work, and many were answered by learning about these things. Had plenty of discussion before about 'regulatory capture', but now it takes on a whole new meaning. I always pondered on where the price of marijuana came from, and why something I could produce for 1/100th of the USD cost we are forced to pay for it, had to be so expensive. Now it makes much more sense. Right or wrong, I apply the same reasonings for all economic cost structures, and how different people acquire FRNs and the governments role in these things. The people that make the rules and have the pearly whites and the silly looking suits and ties on warm days, don't have to do productive work when they can use regulatory capture to secure streams of economic rents. While I always thought the system was quite perverse and wholly unjust, this new information puts some transparency to it, and now I'm even more disgusted

I saved myself some money when I bought my house, and enjoy helping others learn to do the same.

    Hacar en Amehica

You had me except for 7 and 8, there really is no race tension in this country, when people are left to their own devices. But both the Left and Right that does not bode well with them, and grab the biggest shittiest stick to stir the race pot. I think they used to be called "Agitators".

I've known plenty of people that by even most standards let alone the Patnet standards, would be considered Racist.
But the fascinating thing about those people if the Black lady down the street knocked on their door and asked them if they could give their mother a ride to her doctors appointment, wait for her, then take her to pick up her medicine, and loan a few bucks on top of it, because she was short a few dollars. Almost every person I know that you folks would call racist, would do it for them.

Now that's not to say that after he got back he would not bitch about having to haul that N(word) lady down the street all over hell today, when asked later that night how did his day go.

What is racism and prejudice? Is it one race of people that wishes ill will toward another race of people and would love nothing more than to vanquish them from this earth, or is it simply a person that identifies him self and those like him differently than he views others.

It really seems like it's the latter and is only reserved for White males.

You would think they might get a clue after realizing all the effort to change the name away from "SOCIALIZED MEDICINE".
WHY establish another future failure agency like ferdie & frannie, SEC, TSA, Social Security, Labor Board, etc etc etc.

Here's a European ( read: commie homo) view of our right/left skew:

    http://www.greanvillepost.com/2012/03/07/there-is-no-proper-left-in-american-politics-even-obama-is-more-right-wing-than-cameron/

I want you to imagine a twelve-inch ruler, like the ones those of us of a certain age used to pack in our schoolbags. On the far left, just above the “1,” picture Trotsky and his band of crazies; on the far right, at “12,” Hitler and Genghis Khan.

Where on this scale would you place David Cameron? I’d put him at the seven-inch mark, a little to the right of Clement Attlee but definitely to the left of Tony Blair. This measured approach recognises distinctions down to a tenth of an inch, allowing Ed Miliband to sit fractionally to the left of the Prime Minister and just to the right of Nick Clegg.

Now picture a similar ruler used to define United States politics. A very different, and quite frightening, picture emerges.

Where the House of Commons covers a spread between four and nine, with the majority fitting in between five and seven, the US Congress starts at six and runs all the way up to ten, or even ten-and-a-half. Appropriately, most Democrats are at sixes and sevens; Republicans cluster around nine.

Good read. The Fox News crowd tosses around words like Socialist and Commie without any clue what they mean. On the one hand, they like global comparisons to make us feel guilty about wages. YOU should be GRATEFUL you haven't gotten a real wage increase in 30 years, at least you aren't living off pennies like people in Malaysia or wherever! On the other hand, they don't like comparing our politics or politicians to anyplace else if it might cast the GOP as a bunch of right-wing extremists.

Yeah, it IS entertaining. The other aspect is that we don't really need to know what is going to happen to the housing "market". We only need to know whether we will be able to live where we can be useful. The rest is just like the antique dealers that go around buying and selling from each other.

What are the far left denying that is provably true?

I tend toward liberally progressive responses (I think) because I've gone so far right, I'm left now.
The biggest thing that the left is denying is that the basis of their platforms for health care, budgets, jobs, (basically, anything that takes money to run it) is standing on a pyramid scheme of resource extraction to accumulate wealth by a few people. Some of them realize they must give up some of their accumulated wealth in order to pay into such systems, but none are suggesting that we restrict the wealth accumulation which removes resources at the lowest levels, where they would do the most good if left to the inefficiencies of local economies and physical labors. Instead, the Democrats are simply Republicans Lite : advocating for "growth" and "business" and "economy" without any discussion of what that growth is doing, whether a business is useful to our future, or whether the economy is a driving factor and information source, or simply a side effect of the activities (useful or consumptive) of hormone-driven animals reacting to stimuli of mindless marketing.
In other words, the Big Lie is that people intentionally know what the hell they are actually doing. The Republicans use this lie to tell people to vote against Democrats who would run their lives, under the premise that those listening to them would actually be running their own lives in their best interests in the first place. The Democrats believe that SOME (educated, elites, whatever) are capable of running or even guiding people to some goal, but they have no consensus on what that goal should be (other than Humanism, which is a BIG mistake: something like Cockroachism).

No, because the two-choice system keep people like him in power, but its fun to see the truth leak out even to those most willing to self deceive.

THe banking cabal and the globalist elite and a new world order is in control, but you can keep about 90% of the population tied up in thinking politics is football, pick a team. The rest are either rich enough that the system works for them or angrily typing on the internet.
