That is unprecedented in post WWII US history. With little to no social safety net the reality is that its almost impossible to bounce back from the destitution these people are suffering from. As the article notes most if not all of them will never get back to the same standard of living they had even if they can get steady work again. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out a big chunk of them end up losing what little they still have and end up dead on the street within a few years. That goes double for the over 40 crowd who are homeless but living in their cars. Of course this situation will continue to get worse before it gets better given the ultra conservative "Fuck You, I Got Mine" pro austerity and pro rich politicians we currently have in power. It doesn't help that most people still want to blame the victim and blame the poor for being poor. Note how in the article the people mention over and over how they are automatically judged as unworthy if they admit they have no place of residence and are homeless in all the job interviews they go to irregardless of how much experience or how hard they worked in the past. In most people's minds someone who is homeless is like that for a reason of their own making, any alternative thinking on that subject has been drilled out of their minds by the media, the government, and their own families/friends.

I've always passionately hated the middle class including lower-middle and upper-middle class. Destroy this class of cockroaches. I couldn't give less of a fuck. This class also tends to be the most judgmental ironically towards the poor. The wealthy are accepting of peasants and peasants also tend to be accepting of the wealthy. Because both are at the end of extremes. The middle class however is a most disgusting subhuman piece of shit that should be mass murdered. They are the enemies of not only the wealthy but the peasants as well. They are the biggest fucking complainers and whiners as well. It's by time these arrogant pieces of shit get put in their place and join the peasants to learn modesty. Their should only be two classes; Rich and poor. A middle class is a leech on society and a mockery of wealth. Such austerity should never be tolerated by both the peasants and the wealthy. It's time to start mass murdering the middle class.
