Whoops.......so much for Shrek's predictive ability. I'm beginning to like Roberts. First he throws out the Arizona law, now he upholds health care reform.

I'm actually pretty amazed by this decision. I hope it represents a real evolution in the thinking of John Roberts and not just a couple of instances of temporary sanity.

Liberal chief justice John Roberts........I like the sound of that!

The primary care exodus started 10-15 years ago. My sister's lost three since the mid-1990s. Same story. Can't spend half their time screaming at insurance drones on the phone and call it a life.

This will just finish off the entire system.

The rich will fly to private clinics pay cash. The poor will buy hunting rifles and blow their own brains out when they can't take the pain any more.

    It's the only reasonable outcome.

The ruling today by Scotus is a step forward for all citizens.
How can America be proud when they currently stand at #37 in the WHO World Health Crea Rankings. Link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Health_Organization_ranking_of_health_systems

That is only two places in front of Cuba, who have been subjected to economic sanctions for years.

And considering that the USA spends the most on healthcare of any nation, you should be #1 in the rankings.

I grew up in England as a child, and was used to our single payer system with the NHS, and it is so much better than what I currently have in the USA under an employer based private system.

Realistically, all Americans should be appalled that their country is at #37.

Coincidently, even the CIA has the USA on the Life Expectancy rankings at #51. Which is one place behind Cuba. Link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy#List_by_the_CIA_World_Factbook_.282011_estimates.29

Come this July 4th, Americans really have little to celebrate in real terms of quality of life, affordable healthcare, Life expectancy, as in reality someone in Monaco is going to enjoy life by a whole 11.36 more years.

But hey, atleast you have the Worlds best military that is 13 times larger than its nearest rival, but cannot defeat a group of rags heads in a underdeveloped country.

    Pathetic isn't it?

But as we all know, military spending is primarily for enriching the top 0.1%, not for actual defense.

The cost should then be heavily weighted based on your age and conditions. If they can still afford it, perfect. As long as my payments are not affected by other people.

lol--I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that your above opinion will change as you get older...

The civil suits and campaigns at doctor's office level will begin immediately, as well as offshore funding of political disruption campaigns to get rid of Obama, seat Romney, and begin dismantling of Obamacare, medicare, medicade, social security and, of course, establishment of helicopter hunting licenses for 'illegals' on the premise that wetbacks are the Real Reason health care is not half as cheap as it could be, even though it is the best in the world, none better, etc.

Get ready for ALOT of primary care doctors retiring early, leaving the profession. Get ready to wait a LONG time to get a hold of a primary doctor. Get ready for a shortage of doctors in general.

Exactly. My rates will increase dramatically because less than 1% of the population will game the system with their insane conditions.

    Absolutely agree.

Yet the left, that chooses to stay uninformed thinks this will not make insurance more prohibitively expensive. The penalty of $95 or whatever it is, isn't going to be anywhere close to the huge surgery bills that will result from people getting insurance post trauma because they cannot be declined.

And since with this law pre existing conditions cannot be used to determine individual risk, that risk has to be assumed across the board...

Healthcare costs will skyrocket and so will insurance since they are a pass through system.

Wow seriously? There isn't anyone on the left with the hatred for this country that the right exhibits every day.

I think Roberts was an ass for Citizen's United but maybe he's coming around. I've never called him a traitor, burned him in effigy, or sent him a death threat.

Obama and the Dems needed this to tanked by the court...now, they are in real trouble.

I'll chalk this up to the same quality as all your other predictions.

Which means rates go up. A lot.

There's no free lunch. And now I MUST pay whatever rate the insurnace companie demand, or I pay a penalty.

How is this a victory for anyone?

Because your premise is flawed. EVERYONE IS ALREADY COVERED. Anyone having a heart attack drives to the nearest hospital regardless of insurance and is treated immediately.

We might see costs drop instead of increase because poor people will be able to get medication instead of suffering the very expensive results of having none.

And the fix for that is to let them die on the street instead of forcing the rest of us to pay for it.

Then again, I'm somewhat of a heartless bastard who approves of releasing the elderly from the community similar to the The Giver or Logan's Run.

    OH NOES!!!

Fact in 2010 a family of 4 anual premium was $3,997
and now under obamacare it will be $12,500

Which I find hard to belive it already is 20K a year.

People might be electing Romney just to get Obamacare nixed.

Which would be stupid. What about RomneyCare in MA?

But then again, no one ever accused the teabaggers of acting on facts.

It is shocking, but I think there are two sides to this coin. I think Americans tend to have less healthy lifestyles than many benchmark countries. It would be interesting to see data on the average BMI, for example, of the countries in that ranking.

It's absolutely shocking to return to the United States after traveling abroad for a week or so. FAT FAT FAT people everywhere you look. God help you if you fly into Cincinnati.

I wonder how our health care system would rank if fat Americans weren't so fat.
