To help readers distinguish between what I consider acceptable and unacceptable comments, here are some examples:

"You're clueless" is OK.

"You suck" is not OK.

"You're no Jack Kennedy" is OK.

"Fuck you" is not OK.

"You don't know what you're talking about" is OK.

"Eat shit" is not OK.

"Not even a Mormon would believe that!" is OK.

"Kill the Mormons" is not OK.

"You've posted this crap several times now" is OK.

"Listen, shit for brains" is not OK.

"You're just making shit up" is OK.

"You libtard" is not OK.

"Liberals like you" is OK.

There's a difference between "Liberals like you" and "Libtards like you". The first one is just over the border into polite territory. The second one is far over the border into asshole territory. jvolstad says What about calling a Realtor a Realtard? I think it's fine to talk about Realtards in general, but please don't say "You Realtard." The difference being that the insult is then direct. And you don't really know who's a Realtard or not because it's an anonymous forum. But if you insult "libtards" in general, I'm likely to delete it, because it identifies you as an ignorant pawn of the 0.1%, playing right into their divide-and-conquer strategy, and willing to sink the whole country rather than fix anything while the Democrats are in power. Apolcalypsefuck can insult pretty much anything on earth and I won't delete it. BTW, I took yesterday off and drove up to the beach in Marin. Intended to go to Stinson Beach but the traffic was so awful that we turned off at Miwok Ranch and walked 1.5 miles to Tennessee Cove just to try it out instead. Wow, that is a fantastically beautiful place.

He is a "personality" on here that has been welcomed and enjoyed by everyone, including the target. He is one of the best at keeping things light hearted when the subject matter is really bad stuff. The postings put up show intellect and insight and true understanding, because true humor demands those things. He has earned the right to post off-color, degrading, irreverant stuff. A number of people have complained about how the real estate section is being marginalized by political topics on the front page through board activity. Your response is often, 'why not just go to the real estate board.' I agree that is a good solution, and I often do it. I would suggest that you make it more obvious, perhaps give 'real estate' a preferred spot at the top, or put a little temporary banner up there to let people know about that. The people who just want to read the real estate section may be the least likely to figure out how to get to the right page and / or change their bookmark.
