10 Palestinians have died for every IDF soldier.
This means that terrorists are right and the IDF are murderers right?

There has to be a balance. In the country it is fine. If you live out in the boonies, you need a gun . If you have livestock, a vet maybe an hour or two away and you may need to know how to put down an animal in distress humanely-guns are pretty good for that, if you know what you are doing. Plus they give you a measure of protection and you can hunt.
On the other hand, in a big city, do you really want a bunch of drunk young males walking the streets with loaded AK47s? I forget which state it is, that allows people to bring guns into bars. Again country is fine, but big cities are different animals and there has to be some restrictions-just not sure what the line in the sand should be.

Take out AK47s and put pistols, and that is exactly what is happening in cities all over the country. Except those guns are not legally owned and obtained guns. Gangs, drug dealers, thieves, drug addicts, ex-cons, they all have guns but not through the legal channels.
It's the second amendment, just behind freedom of speech, assembly and press. So it isn't going anywhere without a large movement of support. As for the debate of what is reasonable and what isn't, the reason the NRA and other gun supporters lobby so hard to discourage any and all laws relating to gun control it's because of the concept of "give them an inch, they want a foot." Start allowing federal income taxes, and all of a sudden we see rates upwards of 20%-40%. There will always be a gun-control cry in politics and it will never end no matter what the NRA/gun rights people give. So no one wants to give anything.

Then they are fools. If our government truly turned on its own people the military would be able to reduce this country to the stone age with narry a drop of sweat. I'd also be willing to bet that in that situation most of the people with guns would be far more willing to fore go their sacred 2nd amendment rights and swear allegiance to the new order than take a chance fighting for the old.
That said I'm constantly surprised and grateful that our rank and file military put up with us civilians as well as they do. Imagine how whiny we sound complaining about 80 hour work weeks and high home prices while so many of them spend years in complete $3@^holes with IEDs, PRG and God knows what else.
Its still not going to stop me from complaining but I do try to keep it in perspective.

Like I keep saying, if the Democrats would be more moderate on those issues, they'd regain permanent-majority status. But they won't.
I don't think it's our overlords funding the homosexual pressure groups or radical feminists. Those are real movements with money that strongly influence the Democrat party.

Remember the street riots in LA back in the Early 90s. Had it not been for the loaded guns by the shopkeepers and merchants. Many would have been killed by thugs and their business burned and looted ! Guns stopped the killings !
Before a verdict was issued in the new 1993 Rodney King federal civil rights trial against the four officers, Korean shop owners prepared for the worst as fear ran throughout the city, gun sales went up, virtually all of them by those of Korean descent, some merchants at flea markets removed their merchandise from their shelves, storefronts were fortified with extra Plexiglas and bars. Throughout the community, shop owners readied to defend themselves as if on the eve of a war.[51] College student Elizabeth Hwang spoke of the attacks on her parents' convenience store in 1992 and the fact that if trouble erupted following the 1993 trial, that they were armed with a Glock 17 pistol, a Beretta and a shotgun and they plan to barricade themselves in their store to fight off looters.[53] Some Koreans formed armed self defence groups following the 1992 riots. Speaking just prior to the 1993 verdict, Mr. Yong Kim, leader of the Korea Young Adult Team of Los Angeles, which purchased five AK-47s, stated:
“ We made a mistake last year. This time we won't. I don't know why Koreans are always a special target for African Americans, but if they are going to attack our community then we are going to pay them back. "

I think the poster above meant that most of America is still rural area, and I think you meant most of the population is more centralized in urban environments. Just wanted to put some Windex on the mud puddle.

Two types of People want to eliminate guns. One type responding to media's sensationalism and another branch who want to render our society defenseless.

Intellectuals who have been experienced around guns, understand their benefit(sss).
Let's keep the rights of the honest and learn to eliminate those with ill intent.

The third type is someone who had a family member killed by their own gun. If you look at the statistics you'll see you're more likely to be killed by your own gun, or kill a family member, or a friend or family member kill you than some criminal.

Another word/phrase for "Anti-Gun Control Groups" are "gun civil rights groups." How about if we refer to the pro-choice movement as "anti-abortion control lobbyist groups?"
In the meantime, what ARE labeled civil rights groups are often cynical lobbyists. "La Raza" (the race) which is a pro-hispanic lobbying group. "Feminism" which literally means seeing the world in terms of feminine interests (and this is their political agenda as well, they rarely care about equality if it benefits men at the expense of women). Etc.
As you chuckle about "gun nuts", this is my perspective on the issue: Just as "gun rights" may seem like an unnecessary danger, the same could be said for a lot of things. Alcohol certainly is a danger and they tried prohibition. Do you NEED rock music? Guns can be a positive part of life. Go ahead, yuck it up. Allow me to explain. My friend takes his 10 year old daughter out for shooting lessons. She's disabled (but can fire a gun) and this provides her with a feeling of empowerment. She can handle a dangerous object and use it for precision practice, win awards, and demonstrate she can responsibly handle the weapon. Instead of just voting for patriarchal politicians to take care of her, she has demonstrated that if she needed to, she could defend herself. It gives her self confidence. And for men, well, sure it's stereotypical that guns are often substitutes for "other" "equipment" much like sport cars but also, it is a learning experience to handle a weapon safely and maybe even hunt your own game. It brings you together with nature that picking up shrinkwrapped food doesn't. Most rural gun rights supporters are more in tune with nature than suburban hippies in the Bay Area thinking they're roughing it when the Whole Foods opens an hour late...

Having one in your "toolbox" is more of a danger to you or your family than not having one. Things almost never come down the way they do on TV. In the real world your child finds the gun and shoots themself. Your spouse gets drunk and/or angry and shoots themself or you. The criminal finds your gun and steals it or uses it on you.
If you really want to always be prepared learn how to disarm someone and evade getting shot. Learn where other people keep their weapons. Learn how to enter a locked house or car to find a weapon when you really need it. Also learn how defend yourself if you have no weapon. Learn the many ways to build or improvise a weapon. That's what the pros are taught, and the criminals already know. Having a gun just lulls people into a false sense of security. How do you think a bunch of farmers and children chased a well funded modern army out of Vietnam?
When I was a teen I worked in a carwash. I could tell just by looking at the bumper stickers and what was hanging from the rearview mirror who was going to have a gun under their seat. The smart way to go is to let someone else risk their lives storing a weapon for you for when I really need it. Rednecks abound.

They didn't really try. Talk to some oldsters. It was hardly enforced. Everyone had a still. You could get it by presciption. Kosher markets sold it. Speakeasys all over. The law was a joke.
If it was enforced the way heroine or cocaine is today it would have a whole different outcome. But then everyone would turn to pot, which was what was happening during prohibition. And we can't ever allow that to happen can we? Got to keep drug pushers, big pharma and treatment centers humming.
BTW, check out the price and production of heroine just before and then after the US entered the worlds top producer of opium, Afganistan. The Taliban had almost eradicated opium production in that country. Those bastards! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_production_in_Afghanistan http://adventofdeception.com/wikileaks-afghanistan-afghan-opium-war/

If you had common sense, if you put a new "tool" in your "toolbox", you should have the intelligence and ability to use it....

Do you keep all your sharp kitchen knives locked up in a safe in your house so your kids or spouse can't get to them and use them on you?
ELC says
If a criminal finds your gun and uses it on you, then you weren't intelligent, trained or smart enough to own it in the first place...

Another intelligent comment... try that and most likely you will be on the receiving end of some "lead" poisoning...

This, of course, is a disingenuous argument. Gun control advocates, in general, don't advocate bans on guns, the attempted ban in Washington D.C. being the sole exception. Gun control advocates propose "cooling off" waiting periods to prevent crimes of passion and limits on the number of rounds per second available to purchase.
A woman being attacked by a rapist can kill that rapist just as easily with a semi-automatic pistol holding 10 rounds as with an assault rifle, automatic shotgun, or uzi. The crazy fucker in the movie theater, however, isn't going to kill nearly as many people with a semi-automatic pistol.
Best argument for gun control
Now we can debate what kinds of weapons should be available, but to argue that someone who has a different opinion wants to see a defenseless woman get raped is absurd. If anything, one could argue that a ban on guns makes it less likely that a woman will get raped. After all, pepper spray is no deterrent when the attacker has a gun.
Greatest defensive weapon ever made
It can call 911 and send video and high resolution images of the attacker. It can even tell the attacker that his image has been recorded and sent to the police already and his current actions are being streamed live to YouTube, so he had better think about his next move.

Can't say I'm surprised. Businesses make a lot of money selling guns and ammo. No one makes money refraining from selling guns and ammo. The side that has a profit motive always has more to spend on lobbying. That's one of the fundamental problems with our system of politics.

James Holmes was only using semi-automatic weapons. Fully-auto weapons don't kill more people they just waste ammunition causing the shooter to have to reload more frequently. When a shooter reloads that's when you have an opportunity to stop him.
Besides, any semi-auto can be bump fired. Back when I believed in having guns I would get kicked out of gun ranges all the time bump firing my MAC-10. It was a legal semi-auto yet I could empty the clip in seconds.
