So I was out running today on a path through the woods, and tripped on a stone. I fell and cut my hand and arm a bit. I got back up and kept going.

A few drops of blood were running down my hand, when a yellowjacket landed on my bloody hand and then stung me when I shook it off!

Insult to injury! What evil little creatures. I think the bastard smelled blood, literally, and was coming to get some. And then it had the very poor taste to sting me merely for shaking it off.

In general I don't like to kill anything, but I've decided to make a permanent exception for yellowjackets now.

How did it feel? Did it swell up?

When I got stung with a bee before, it literally felt like someone threw a rock at me, and hit me in the neck.

I can't even give my dogs a bone to chew on - the "meat bees" are vicious. And since the monsoon rains around here, the flies are nearly unbearable.

So my friend was outside yesterday, had a glass of red wine and the flies swarmed it. Hundreds of flies. Now he's got a jar of red wine out on his porch, and when it's there they don't bother us so much.

Pat, in the end, you'll be killing hundreds, maybe thousands, of homo sapiens per hour if you have the ammo, during 24/7 free fire fights that will likely lasts for generations.

I agree that the Federal Reserve and all its owner banks should be euthanized, preserved, and mounted as additional examples of stinging instects drawn to blood.

Felt like someone pushed a hot wire into my thumb. Very unpleasant. Then it swelled a bit and my thumb felt very warm. Thumbnail hurts like it might pop off. Hey, you asked. But getting better now.

Great idea to drown the flies in red wine. It's probably a pretty good way to go.

I've seen primitive but effective yellowjacket traps made from 2L pop bottles.

And all ultimately due to the Federal Reserve.
