What's sad is that man has worshiped ~ 2870 deities. Each one being a true God?

Does love exist? Surely the answer is yes. Show me love.

Love is an emotion. It only exists as an observable emotion in very few higher order mammals, though variants of affection and caring occur elsewhere in the animal kingdom, a clearly advantageous selective trait which increases the odds of offspring surviving.

If there were no humans, or no animals at all, then there would be no "love" or any other biologically generated emotional state.

Since you drew the initial parallel, are you then also suggesting that if there were no humans then there would be no god? So logically, god cannot exist without humans?

Actually, you're probably more right than you realized.

I would argue, and have, that human beings are capable of knowing some things. For example, I know without any doubt that the square root of two is an irrational number. Depending on the definition of god someone offers, I can do one of the following,

    1. Disprove the existence of god under that definition.
    2. Prove that no one is worshiping god or looking to god for moral authority under that definition.

So far, no one has ever been able to come up with a definition of god in which I could do neither. Challenges are still welcomed.

True. The existence of love or any other emotion does not even imply the existence of any deity.

It's more important to fight the forces of irrationality so that they do not destroy us or cause future generations to repeat the mistakes of history.

The messenger is irrelevant. All that matters is the message itself. Where an idea comes from is irrelevant. It is either correct or not regardless of which hairless ape wrote it or spoke it.

Cloud, you ain't going to win this one. You are the first and only person who's posting I've deleted. And you've managed to score two deletions in one day. No wonder you have a troll score of 5.1, among the highest of all users.

You are free to express controversial opinions, even encourage to do so. You are free to make up bullshit facts and get called on them, although discouraged to do so. You are not free to be an asshole to anyone. If you don't like that, tough shit.

You can, of course, call out a person on bullshit if you think the person's argument is disingenuous or based on falsehoods. You can also attack any argument and advocate any political philosophy including drowning puppies in rivers. But you don't get to troll.

This will be the last time I explain this to you. All trolling posts will simply be deleted as above and no further explanation of policies will be given. Debate like a mature adult, and you'll be treated like one. Act like a child, and ditto.

This kinda sucks. I use the ignore feature, which works great for the original posts...but I still have to see when someone responds or when the moderator deletes it. It detracts from the thread. At least get rid of the notifications that so-and-so had a post that got deleted when I'm already ignoring that person.

I guess I'm okay with seeing someone else who responds to an ignored user (I don't have a better way to handle it), but it still sorta sucks.

Yeah, I had cloud on ignore. He's the only one I had on ignore. But I kept seeing his postings in replies, so I decided I'd do my duty as a moderator as Patrick intended and unignore him.

Sure enough, he was trolling. So far, he's the only person -- and I use that term loosely -- whose postings I have deleted. Of course, I haven't delete them all, just the troll ones.

I will, however, admit a guilty pleasure in pressing the delete button. For some strange reason, that feels good. It's like you're deleting the troll.

Deletion also keeps the trolls from hijacking a conversation and ruining it. As such, it is an unfortunate but necessary part of maintaining forums. If only everyone had emotional maturity, moderation of forums would be completely unnecessary.

I do make it a point not to delete based on anything but trolling. Even the most offensive bigoted rants, outright lies, or controversial positions would not get deleted by me. So far, the only things I can see that merit deletion are

    - threats of violence
    - trolling
    - posting of someone else's personal info without consent
    - something that's highly illegal

It's amusing to me, after years of listening to so many liberals, atheists and agnostics argue that those who have faith are retards...yet when they face death, in their last moments, they either convert, or acknowledge that they wish they could have found faith in their lives. FACT: people who have faith are healthier and happier than those who think we are looney tunes.

I believe in something bigger than ourselves. However I think it is the unkown and will never be known to us mortals who are on earth for a short time and then gone -like they never existed.

Any religion that claims to know it all and is set in stone-is just a cult-in my humble opinion. That is why we have so much violence and silliness. If you think your way is set in stone and the world around you is saying it is somehting different-you can stop believing or try to change the world around you to fit your beliefs. Which leads to predictable results.

    Friends,
I was on the Love Boat just last night around the Hudson and had a great time...thank for asking. Clearly, we live in a world with lots of religions.I live in Astoria, Queens and there were thousands of Muslins in Astoria Park celebrating the last day of Ramadan. Catholics and Orthodox Christians celebrated the Assumption this week, which is the second most holy day other than Easter to the ancient Christain churches. I am a Christian, I wan't always. at one point in my life I was an agnostic until I ran into a small group of believers who believed in Jesus Christ in a way that I was not taught in my youth. So I traveled from blind faith, to no faith (believing that the prophets of old were drugged out of their mind--of course, I was the one heavily on drugs). When I read the world's most popular book on Earth and experienced that the Holy Spirit is clearly moving in our lives today, I was hooked. It was no longer reading about something in a book, but there were clear sittings! Invisible sittings the same as when I have faith that when I flip the light switch in my home, that the lights will come on, now when I pray to my Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, that His Comforter, the Holy Spirt will intercede in my life. He's not a Genie in a bottle, but He does exist and He is fulfilling his obligation to mankind. If you only watch MSNBC, you will tend to be a liberal and if you only watch Fox News you will tend to be a conservative. If you never tune into Jesus Christ and ask Him to reveal himself to you and invite the Holy Spirit to enter into your life, wsh your sins away, you will forfeit the gift that Jesus paid for you by the shedding of His blood for you and for me. Mock me, I don't care. I believe because I have experienced so many miracles. We're not supposed to look for signs, but Jesus said, "wait for the Comforter and greater works will you do than I have done." God bless you.

    1. There is no proof of that.
    2. That suggests that the belief in god is entirely motivated by fear of ones own mortality, which is a lousy reason to believe in a god.

I hope you're getting how major parts of that book are about living peacefully and not living as a violent oppressor of those who believe differently. That seems to be lost on many who write in a manner similar to the way you've written here.
