“I don’t know what a con artist or a scammer profile would be but she certainly doesn’t fit that profile in my mind,” said Robyn Chan, a licensed San Francisco realtor.
http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Con-Artist-or-Clever-Old-Lady-167212965.html
HINT: the profile of a con artist would be "licensed realtor," but somebody finally turned the tables on them.

She's the hero the bay area deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt her. Because she can take it. Because she's not our hero. She's a silent guardian, a watchful protector.

She does get free food, but on the downside she has to spend time with a realtor. They should pay her!

The job of a realtor is to work a real estate transaction. Not to play taxi driver to a mean old lady. This tells me the real estate commissions are excessive resulting in realtors who will do just about anything to grab a client.
I don't like that free loading old lady, but it's also hard to feel sorry for someone who played taxi driver in the hopes of earning $90,000 commission on a $3 million property.
There are probably female realtors who even have sex with strangers in the hopes of landing a listing.

She's a superhero! Realtors want her, and everyone else wants to be her.
This reminds me of the movie The Sting, with Paul Newman and Robert Redford. A good grifter uses the mark's own greed and dishonesty as the basis of the con. No wonder this lady cons realtors...

Someone please tell me where did she break the law? Unless, I am missing something with a quick review of the article. There are people in all sectors who are nothing but window shoppers. Did she ever demand or require anyone to do or buy her anything? I don't see where she broke the law. What I do see is that she appears to have just rode a wave for whatever reason of what appears to me to be greedy suckers ready willing or I should say desperate to make a buck so they lavished her with rides, gifts, dinners and more? It just seems THEY have remorse for kissing her arse.
I just don't get this article, so what precisely do these ridiculous people want? Compensation for someone who they kissed up to but didn't buy something? What next retailer shops? Car dealers? Who else jumps on this complaint bandwagon during this economy?

I think they should give her a medal! The ripoff and rape of buyers and sellers from just one realtor on one sale is hundreds of times worse than getting scammed for a free lunch with a "big salad". ha ha ha...finally, instead of scamming everyone the realtors got scammed themselves. I think this woman should run for Mayor.

They told me in 'realtor school' that you should show someone no more than 3 homes then - if they wont even make a lowball offer on one of them you DUMP THEM they are wasting your time you could be spending door knocking, mailing flyers, calling everyone in your 'sphere of influence'(this is anyone who wont hang up on you).
Its good advice to all salespeople. Put the high pressure screws on ASAP then dump them if they are looky loo window shoppers.
As much as we all hate salesmen/attorneys/cops/fill in blank - every job is necessary in the modern world.

I don't see anything she does as illegal either. She has not entered into any agreement to sell with any realtor, she is just inquiring. She doesn't stick a gun to the realtors head to hand over their money. They do it willingly hoping for an opportunity to do the real rape. If anything she is making the streets safer for all of us. If realtors commission wasn't so out of wake then they would see these excesses spent trying to close a deal. I'm not driving anyone to the grocery store that want to buy my stuff on ebay. At my work, I could be fired for giving preference to a particular vendor for my own financial reasons. If you ask me the Realtors are stepping on the ethical line more than she is.

People like this freeloading old lady more than realtors.
I would take the freeloading old lady to the furthest grocery store in town and dump her there. Hopefully having to walk back will give her a heart attack.

You are just not the most popular group out there. You have become more unpopular than politicians, lawyers, and used car salesmen.
How are you gonna fix this?

I once ditched the hot girl at the fancy restaurant and stuck her with the bill when I suspected such. ;) Then immediately put her on block. I think the bill was over $200. That'll teach her to order Lobster. ;) I could tell immediately she was a con. Guess I am smarter than a realtard.

This article made me chuckle. The deception and lies that this woman is responsible for are like a tiny black spec of the Picasso room-sized canvas representing the life destroying dishonesty of realtors.
And how the one agent had the nerve to even admit that she bought a purse for this old woman to win her business is simply beyond me.
The realtors reaction to this old lady's actions makes me dislike realtors even more.

The idea is to gain the trust of your client by thoroughly finding out what their needs are. This way you can shop for them the way you would shop for yourself. If they need to see everything it means you've failed to gain their trust. If there's no rapport by the time you show them a few homes you both need to move on. If they're not going to buy one of the best three homes you can find chances are they're not going to buy the lesser ones.
Yet there are exceptions! I've found that buying a home is almost a karma, deja vu sort of thing. When they walk in they somehow know THIS is where they're going to live. Sometimes they buy a home that's a much worse value than the others just because it just FEELS right.
I had this woman turn down a beautiful condo, great price, safe neighborhood because it had white carpet and she felt the kids would ruin it. She ended up taking a more expensive apartment in a horrible area. There was even signs someone broke in and was living in it. Yet that's where she felt she belonged. Go figure.

This thread also speaks to something else the ignorance of both human nature and psychology. Immediately the person with the flash is the one that the ignorant ones foaming at the mouth gravitate toward thinking (often falsely) that is the one with the money. What people don't realise is how real big money works when it comes to old money private purchases. You may be surprised to learn that the one showing up in casual clothing low key driving a Honda may well be the billionaire.
I know today dumb and ugly sells but it does not take much to figure out that any woman with real sophistication and real money is not going to ask an agent to buy her a LV purse. Come on; are people THAT stupid and ignorant today? I guess this story proves they are especially if the lure of a carrot or two is involved. The thing that is fantastic to me about that woman is that she made a fool of all of them and their clear greed.

The Realtor® scum that called the police are really emetogenic. But we can learn from it.
Everyone who suspects they've been lied to in any way - yes, I know, who's been present when a Realtor® has spoken - by a Realtor® needs to file a criminal complaint with the police immediately and pursue it until sentencing. America can only be safe when the last Realtor® has been stuffed into a jail.
Which is why PatNet needs a Realtor® Crime Report application to shoot complaints to the proper authorities.
I hope Su Wu keeps honing her act. Here's my Su Wu fantasy.
"Stupid, stupid Realtor® dog! You no have porta potty in car? We stop! Stop car! Ray down on sidewalk and open mouth! Time for Su Wu take shit! Want commission, Realtor® dog? Give stupid dog tie for Su Wu wipe ass!"

I just Googled the name of one of the Realtors who complained about being tricked into buying an avocado lunch for the pretend buyer.
Please Check this out---> http://thomasnguyen5homes.com/
Telephone: (415) 361-8535. I called Thomas and told him that it was unfortunate that he lost a few dollars on an "avocado salad", but that DAILY buyers and sellers represented by Realtors get ripped off for MILLIONS because of the chicanery, deception, lying and cheating that goes on, and they as Realtors don't do ANYTHING to stop the "bad" Realtors. Thomas listened to me share a few recent horror stories and then HE ADDED HIS COMMENTS ABOUT HOW HE AND HIS BUYERS are being abused because LISTING AGENTS refuse to return his telephone calls, FAX's and emails. I told him to stand up to the criminal elements in Real estate and hundreds of buyers and sellers could seek him out...all looking for an honest Realtor. HE AGREED that Realtors rip EACH other off. So I said why don't you talk to NBC news about that, not the "free avocado salads" you were tricked into buying. What costs more avocado salad, or tens of thousands of dollars in a crooked transaction where the listing agent DOES NOT TENDER THE OFFER OF THE BUYER.... At least we agree that he hates getting ripped off by Realtors as well.
I told him I was posting this and to expect some other points of view about having to pay for a "big salad".

You realize in the world of Realtors the agents who focus on getting listings consider buyer's agents total losers. Glorified taxi drivers who fill their tank $2 at a time. So if you think a listing agent is low imagine how low a buyer's agent must be! :)

Like most Realtors, Thomas works BOTH sides, so-called Listing agents and Buyers agents. The Buyers agent hat is what these Realtors wear when they have no or few listings. When they finally get a listing, THEN they can make the other "Buyers" agents grovel and sweat. In Today's market with extremely low "listed" inventory and HUGE unlisted bank owned inventory, it temporarily turns most Realtors into "Buyers" agents. What else can they do? I didn't attack Thomas when I called him. Instead...I SYMPATHIZED with him so he wouldn't be defensive. Once he admitted that HE was ALSO getting ripped off by Realtors as well (usually listing agents), I asked him the cost of the ripoff difference between a "big salad" and a hundred thousand dollars. I suggested that he call back NBC and tell them the REST of the story about how Realtors rip off other Realtors. It's a small step to continue to Realtors versus everyone else!
