75% of everybody says no way and no fucking way they're buying a house.

Why?

They're squatting, planting yams and teaching the kids how to kill cannibal neonazis with garden tools.

Awesome! I'm picturing people squatting in their front yards, squeezing out a turd to fertilize each new yam, while spade-wielding eight-year-olds watch for gangs of roving reality show stars.

    AF,

I am honored that you've switched from potatoes to yams, at my humble suggestion.

I'll be happy to fight off the cannibals with you any apocalyptic day of the year.

California only has anorexic, vegan cannibals.

What we need are bigger Venus flytraps, that dissolve people in a matter of minutes.

Welcome to the movement. But neophytes should learn that the value of urine as fertilizer far surpasses the turd. And the turd carries diseases. Handle them like bennies from the fed.

Here's the theme song ... RotoBarass will be singing it in due time ...

"It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the muppets
On the the muppet show tonight
It's time to put on makeup
It's time to dress up right
It's time to raise the curtain
    On the muppet show tonight"

    Dead forever?

Hardly. There are a lot of 28 yr. olds like me who aren't exactly in the market, when the best I can pull is $25k from my job. But that's not going to last forever. I have EVERY intention to buy. I just want to do it when my earning/price ratio is more favorable. Even if it's when I'm 35.

Good luck. The industry has one goal - to double the price of housing every year, forever, because it's only natural. Wages have been stagnant since 1975. Doesn't look good.

LOL! you should talk to that guy on CNN, Ali Velshi .. he keeps telling the viewers those jobs arent coming back... but he keeps having guests that keep saying such "bread and butter jobs" are needed for to support middle class.

Infancy was in 1970... year 2000 it was already mature.
After 2005 a much deeper deflationary spiral.

Fuck this man I buying some land and dig a hole and live under ground high on some hill I imagine.I will make it look like nobody lives hear only I can hear them walking above. You see underground the cost of heating or cooling depending where you live is cheap and it give you more land to grow on.It's been done and done quite successfully I might add and know one knows he lives there.Another place to build is in the bottom of a lake.It is expensive at first but there are people that have dwellings under water. The hell with a square box I'm going hip.

Agreed 100% you are the first one I have seen echo precisely what I have been thinking for a long time. Mid-70s real pricing average house 50K or so? Where does that 50K property now see 1M? It is a major reality check called GET REAL.

I see it from early/mid-70s end of the gold standard rise of tech to 2000. 2000 was the mark, the suckers didn't see it.

As I have said before, that few of them got but I will repeat it because it is the only life lesson one needs in my view, if you don't see the sucker in the game the sucker is YOU.

I say sit back on your 25K a year (no big deal because few long terms jobs pay much more anyway. I have come to believe that this other BS of college/100K jobs is just that solid bullshite - a sucker trap, most 100K jobs are contract or short term they use you and let you go then you have to start over. I have seen it happen a bit too much since 2001,) be frugal, save your money, limit your debts, pay your bills and on time (they want you to default) and then when the time is right (and realistic in real estate if that ever comes again,) you will do what is right for you.

Don't ever let media BS and others influence good sound jugement, most do and that is why now they are seriously screwed.
