Real planets found by NASA that can support life as we know it.

Real planets that are in an orbit that may allow for water to remain in a liquid state. All these planets are MUCH larger than earth, at least 2.6x the mass. No info on the presence or composition of an atmosphere, terrain.

All we know it there are large rocks in orbit around stars very very far away that if water is present may be liquid. That is about all we can say about them at this point. We have NO idea what kind of an atmosphere - if any - they have, what the surface temperatures are, the geologic activity level, bombardment from debris, etc. At those levels of gravity I think any life would be quite different from anything we have on earth.

To put this into perspective take a look at our own solar system. We have three planets in the Goldilocks habitable zone:

Venus with a mass similar to earth (0.85) is on the fringe of our sun's habitable zone. The atmosphere is mostly high pressure 800 degree sulfuric acid. Life on this rock would definitely NOT be of the "as we know it" form, at least life as we currently know it. Then again perhaps that's Ruki's Avitar's home turf.

Mars is much smaller than earth (0.107) well within the habitable zone but is a very cold rock with no known liquid water and a thin atmosphere of mostly CO2. Life there may be of an anerobic "as we know it" type but more likely there is none.

Earth has a HUGE diversity of life. We are constantly finding new extremophiles which are constantly pushing our boundaries of "life as we know it". Stay tuned.

That's great, we can have "Planet Asia", "Planet Afro", Planet "Hobnail, Skinhead", and "Buffalo Planet" for the American Indians!

    Everybody will be happy again!

Of course, "Planet Cannibal Anarchist" will have to invade them all for foodstuffs, leaving them smoking piles of bones and cinder.

Why do they always use artist conception to show these things?
I thought Hubble could see these things?

At the Hubble site they make wild claims about what the Hubble discovered but then depict what is happening with "artwork".

Like the image below, is a Jupiter planet being ripped apart its Star.

I don't mean to sound like a nay sayer, I was even the strongest supporter of the hubble. But why do they always present an Artist's Concept of what the hubble saw?

Because at these distances its almost impossible to see the planet itself. Its akin to looking for a moth circling a bonfire on the moon.

The artists conceptions fuel the imagination but I agree they tend to be very misleading. Pretty planets with clouds, oceans and continents look appealing to the starry eyed fan of astronomy. It also no doubt helps tremendously with public support for NASA. The reality however is most of these planets are probably more akin to the moon or Mars than earth.

Of course given the sheer number of planets out there I am sure there is at least one populated by super technically advanced ,sex starved, uber-hot, amazonian women desperate for the company of men. They are no doubt at this very moment building ships to conquer Earth and make love slaves of men everywhere.

Hey, it comes from alien-ufo-research.com. I know that's where I look for accurate, hard facts.

I'm pretty sure that I have seen several movies about this.

If the homeowner isn't insulted by your offer...you didn't bid low enough!!!

The NASA Channel should start running those. If they did their budget problems would be solved!
