The Bee recently published a monograph by Mike Rossi, Gov. Jerry Brown's economic adviser, in which he sought to debunk criticism of California's business climate. "The fact is that California is once again the national leader in job creation," Rossi wrote, citing 298,000 private sector jobs gained in the past year, "which is more than New York, New Jersey, Florida and Nevada combined." Rossi cited as a "just this week" example of such job creation, an announcement that the Sacramento-based Sutter hospital chain would open a new facility in Roseville "that employs upwards of 1,000 people."
