What retiree in their right mind would select Spain when massive tax hikes are inevitable?
There are many Latin American countries much more financially favorable to retirees.

Unlike the US, you only pay taxes in Spain on money earned in Spain.
Those Latin American countries are rolling up the carpet and are not nearly as friendly as the were in years past.

panama gives an easy retire visa, and discounts on movies, plays, transportation etc.
ecuador also has a good plan.
[not to mention very affordable health care in both of those countries]
thailand too has a retiree friendly visa.
