There are many Latin American countries much more financially favorable to retirees. Unlike the US, you only pay taxes in Spain on money earned in Spain. Those Latin American countries are rolling up the carpet and are not nearly as friendly as the were in years past.

[not to mention very affordable health care in both of those countries] thailand too has a retiree friendly visa.
