    More specifically, id imagine its the sugars from corn HFCS here in the SAD-lands. Sugar is the gateway drug, it primes our young for the litany of addictions they are faced with as they grow older.

    They suggest that sweet-eating children don't learn to defer gratification and carry impulsive behaviors into adulthood. They also speculate that big candy eaters are also more likely to eat additive-laden food--which some researchers claim has adverse behavioral effects throughout life.

    Yes and the article says they are also lower educated, which means poorer. Poverty and violence have always been correlated. So which factor is primary and how do you choose? Things are never as simple as a single soundbite.

    This is from 1978 based on 1972 data for christ sakes. WTF? Surely there must be more recent research. Sounds like publish or perish to me. You must have been really, really bored over Christmas to come up with this one.
