America is rapidly becoming a nation of takers. An increasing number of Americans expect the government to take care of them from the cradle to the grave, and they expect the government to dig into the pockets of others in order to pay for it all.

America-the welfare state??

"In California, there are 139 "takers" for every 100 private sector workers."
Also you can go to the web site provided in this article
benefits.gov
It gets really interesting...
This whole thing is very demoralizing. Productive people don't want even to work or create or do anything where they see all the leeches sucking their hard earned money. They should go John Galt and let this system collapse on it's own faster.
I remember Bill Handel from the morning radio show saying to Californians to vote all the way up and down for all possible taxes to go into effect. It was the mad man strategy to just accelerate the complete collapse of the state, so we would be able to 'raise from the ashes' and rebuild.

How much did you pay in taxes last year?
This argument has been had twice in the last 6 months. No sense repeating why its so wrong again.
