A relative forwarded this to me. I didn't write it. --Patrick

I, ________________________, do solemnly swear to uphold the principles of a socialism-free society and heretofore pledge my word that I shall strictly adhere to the following:

I pledge to eliminate all government intervention in my life. I will abstain from the use of and participation in any socialist goods and services including but not limited to the following:

• Social Security
• Medicare/Medicaid
• State Children’s Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP)
• Police, Fire, and Emergency Services
• US Postal Service
• Roads and Highways
• Air Travel (regulated by the socialist FAA)
• The US Railway System
• Public Subways and Metro Systems
• Public Bus and Lightrail Systems
• Rest Areas on Highways
• Sidewalks
• All Government-Funded Local/State Projects (e.g., see Iowa 2009 federal senate appropriations)
• Public Water and Sewer Services (goodbye socialist toilet, shower, dishwasher, kitchen sink, outdoor hose!)
• Public and State Universities and Colleges
• Public Primary and Secondary Schools
• Sesame Street
• Publicly Funded Anti-Drug Use Education for Children
• Public Museums
• Libraries
• Public Parks and Beaches
• State and National Parks
• Public Zoos
• Unemployment Insurance
• Municipal Garbage and Recycling Services
• Treatment at Any Hospital or Clinic That Ever Received Funding From Local, State or Federal Government (pretty much all of them)
• Medical Services and Medications That Were Created or Derived From Any Government Grant or Research Funding (again, pretty much all of them)
• Socialist Byproducts of Government Investment Such as Duct Tape and Velcro (Nazi-NASA Inventions)
• Use of the Internets, email, and networked computers, as the DoD's ARPANET was the basis for subsequent computer networking
• Foodstuffs, Meats, Produce and Crops That Were Grown With, Fed With, Raised With or That Contain Inputs From Crops Grown With Government Subsidies
• Clothing Made from Crops (e.g. cotton) That Were Grown With or That Contain Inputs From Government Subsidies

If a veteran of the government-run socialist US military, I will forego my VA benefits and insist on paying for my own medical care

I will not tour socialist government buildings like the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

I pledge to never take myself, my family, or my children on a tour of the following types of socialist locations, including but not limited to:

• Smithsonian Museums such as the Air and Space Museum or Museum of American History
• The socialist Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson Monuments
• The government-operated Statue of Liberty
• The Grand Canyon
• The socialist World War II and Vietnam Veterans Memorials
• The government-run socialist-propaganda location known as Arlington National Cemetery
• All other public-funded socialist sites, whether it be in my state or in Washington, DC

I will urge my Member of Congress and Senators to forego their government salary and government-provided healthcare.

I will oppose and condemn the government-funded and therefore socialist military of the United States of America.

I will boycott the products of socialist defense contractors such as GE, Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Humana, FedEx, General Motors, Honeywell, and hundreds of others that are paid by our socialist government to produce goods for our socialist army.

I will protest socialist security departments such as the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security, TSA, Department of Justice and their socialist employees.

Upon reaching eligible retirement age, I will tear up my socialist Social Security checks.

Upon reaching age 65, I will forego Medicare and pay for my own private health insurance until I die.

SWORN ON A BIBLE AND SIGNED THIS DAY OF __________ IN THE YEAR ___.

Millions of Americans who have subsisted on government handouts have an almost militant expectation that society owes them.
Welfare, the sincere effort to help people, always fails. Dependency replaces self-reliance, self worth suffers making for a large, unhappy, angry segment of society. There are tens of millions of low-income government dependents and many others infected with a sense of entitlement who could be prone to crime and violence...especially when the masses realize there are not enough jobs and handouts to go around.

    mountainsrblue,

If the opposition is advocating evil they should be called out. In this case Patrick is trying to legalize theft to pay for people's health care. I think theft is wrong in an ethical sense. What kind of compromise can there be on that point?

There is no respect in debates because people no longer share basic values, namely "murder is wrong" and "theft is wrong". These two values among others form the basis of civilized society. So is it any wonder that respect is gone when the question of the day is "who should we rob to pay for my health care, or my mortgage, or my kids, or my retirement, or my rent, or my food, or my education". The productive person in America has become the sheep voting with the two wolves on what's for dinner. Is it any wonder the sheep have become disrespectful in the debate?

All other rich countries do health care much better than we do, with half the cost per person and universal coverage. Why can’t we?

We can--and we need to develop a more sustainable healthcare system, because US healthcare is another cost bubble that's facing the credit/income crunch. It's simply impossible to create endless liquidity to feed the current system forever--that's a reality. I smirk when a business model parasitic to leverage equates cost-management to "socialism". Not surprisingly, business will become more profitable when healthcare costs are better managed.

Prosperity based on force, fraud, lies, inflation or borrowing can never be permanent. (You know - the things politicians have given us for the past 40 + years). The freedom of personal responsibility, independence, hard work, free markets, private property rights, sound money and the rule of law provide the OPPORTUNITY for prosperity, happiness and peace.

I wonder why so many Americans have such a hard time understanding this?

Elvis, most Americans don't understand those concepts because they themselves don't embrace the concept of personal responsibility. Many would rather be dependent on others. The AMERICAN DREAM is the concept of unlimited OPPORTUNITY...NOT UNLIMITED HANDOUTS.

dg1j....I am in general agreement with your 1st post. The following I have strong disagreement is:
'This generation shall not pass before His promised 2nd coming. What generation? The generation that saw the miraculous creation of the state of Israel in 1 day and the capture of Jerusalem. This may be your last warning before Tribulation starts. Be alert, be watchful.'

dg1j is off base on this. The "generation" was the one that was contemporary when the passage was written......the generation that lived during 70 AD. That generation would live thru the judgment that was predicted in the passage. There will not be a (Great) Tribulation......it happened already long ago. It is a giant leap (and foolish) to refer that generation into the future. dg1j is a dispensationalist and I am post millennial....that today the gospel and Christ's Kingdom is advancing and on the march until He comes for final judgment. The world will be full of the knowledge of the Lord before He comes for final judgment. This is the day of salvation. We need Reformation and Revival.

…most Americans don’t understand those concepts because they themselves don’t embrace the concept of personal responsibility.

It strikes me that any valid concern about welfare that's spun into an all-inclusive absolute about American's motives loses real meaning as a point of discussion. Sure, you can bat around words like "responsibility, free markets, socialism, etc."--but when you define an abstract concept so narrowly, naturally anybody who uses their own brain would object to being led to a forced conclusion at their own expense. No surprise there.

I'm trying to be polite, but on the other hand--I sure miss Surfer-X's rants against the hubris and entitlement of a generation--whose "prosperity" is more a consequence of decades of credit expansion than brilliance of leadership/strategy. These same people, many of whom enjoyed years of relatively stable, government-backed infrastructure—are now railing against any reform which might cost them as some new, insidious form of Soviet-state communism. How ironic.

KurtS, you are an idiot devoid of facts.
Like all liberals you have no facts. Just feelings and ignorant concepts told to you by your friends.

I work for the federal government. Believe me you don’t want the federal government in charge of your heath. Try it right now, RIGHT NOW. Call any federal government phone number in the yellow pages and ask for something,,,,anything.

I am so confident that they will shit on you that I’ll leave it up to you to pick the agency.

Then take a trip up to any port of entry into the United States on the Canadian border,,,ANY PORT OF ENTRY NEAR A MAJOR CANADIAN CITY……ANY.

Look to see if there is not a large private hospital on the US side.

TAKE A GUESS WHY THAT HOSPITAL IS THERE??

We have at least 40 million more freeloaders than they do to add to this program that are now only getting the occasional free TRAUMA CARE not full blown HEALTH CARE…….BIG DIFFERENCE. Do you want to share you doctor with another 1000 other welfare recipients?
Or are you like the Hollywood libs that only want OUR health care to be Socialized and yours stays the same?

You want liberals Democrats and Socialists running your life, test it? Move to, or at least take a good look at Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, or St. Louis. Your heroes have run those places for the last 50 years….Go check it out.

Go find some facts, educate yourself, and stop being a moron.

Russia was the first country in the world to nationalize their cradle to grave healthcare. Here's a great article on how well that worked out.

    http://mises.org/story/3650

There is no government system, no economic system, nor any intellectual ideal that can override the natural laws of scarcity. Everyone dies, and most of us get very sick before that happens. The poorest people will never receive the best possible healthcare methods when that happens. The resources it takes to do chemotherapy, heart surgery, etc are simply too great for any society to afford these things for every citizen.

Our only chance to get close to caring for everyone properly would have to include increased economic output as well as improved efficiency (read: lower costs) in healthcare. Allowing the government, which has proven itself to be grossly wasteful, to become more involved in healthcare will make healthcare more expensive. Anyone that feels otherwise is stuck in an intellectual ideal fantasy land.

Before the government began controlling our healthcare we had by far the best healthcare in the world. There has been a direct correlation between the level of government control to the decline of our healthcare system. This is not a coincidence.

Oh, thanks for that...because ad hominem somehow adds substance to what's become very polarized discourse.
Thanks too for reminding me about ALL CAPS and vulgarity (facts?)...I'll use that next time to sound more persuasive. Heh.

But I'm not too surprised by the response--seeing how I poked fun at the credit expansion "lifestyle" and the reaction to healthcare "socialism". Speaking of which, I know a few Canadians (ie socialists) who would be bankrupt or dead were it not for their healthcare system. Then again, all "moron, liberal, socialist, freeloader, idiots" like me--who obviously travel in mindless herds should go broke and die--while thanking those who "got theirs" for the wonderful visionary legacy we've inherited. Thank you, good sir!

America is already broke. But let me get this right. We want to continue to spend billions looking for some guy in Afghanistan hiding in a cave, spend more billions on Crap and Trade (which will cost millions of JOBS), spend trillions we don't have on a proposed government take over of health care, continue to lose millions on the US Postal service, Amtrak, and on and on and on. In addition, it was reported on CBS News - Online, 4-15-2009 "43.4% of Americans pay NO federal income tax." The "straw" is breaking the camel's back and no one in government (other than Ron Paul) seems to care. Taxpayers are finally getting angry.

Its time to STOP THE FISCAL INSANITY.

America was founded on the idea of LIMITED government, not a government that controls every aspect of our lives. We are losing our prosperity because we are losing our freedom.

    Elvis:

We have a 3 trillion budget and can afford to lend money to other nations, this is very similar to the funds China lent to us. The 3billion or so in funds you noted were loaned to Mexico, Egypt, Jordan, UN, and Israel represent not even 1% of our budget. You have misrepresented these numbers as if they have a major impact on our fiscal budget. It is wrong for people to cite the amounts spent as if they are breaking the bank. Just because you and I cannot afford 550 million it doesnt mean the United States government cant turn a profit from a loan. We lent 700 billion to the banking system and have since recouped over 1/2 of those funds plus interest. We are now waiting for the largest banks (Bank of America, Citibank) to give back the 350 million lent out at which point we will reap the benefits of the interest on those loans. The other 1/2 was lent to banks that most likely didnt need it, of which our government turned a 10 billion profit from the interest.

Here are better examples of waste:

-The 100 billion per year being spent on the IRAQ war for the past 10 years that will never be recouped or
-the 300 billion per year being spent on social welfare supporting people that will never want to work
-the 100 billion per year being spent on warehousing gangbangers "domestic terrorists" in our prison systems

These are much better things to gripe about because they dont and wont turn a profit. They only suck from the system without any return.

Be lucky that i am not president because here are my policies:

    1. If 1 gangbanger commits a crime, then they all commit a crime. Charge them all with murder for the one individuals crime
    2. Cancel all welfare, healthcare for illegal immigrants
    3. Place the military at the CA and TX borders, gun down anyone attempting to cross illegally
    4. Legalize any illegal immigrants willing to pursure a Masters Degree in college and learn extremely fluent ENGLISH
    5. Cut off welfare benefits for anyone after 3 years, if you havent found a job after 3 years then you just aint trying
    6. Setup a tent city in Mexico for the lowlifes who refuse to work or pursue higher education in our country
    7. Demilitarize Russia, China and any other country that is a immediate threat to the security of the United States.
    8. I would bomb these countries back into the middle ages because they are not free markets where we can sell American products.
    9. Round up all Crips, Bloods, KKK, Mexican Mafia and send them to live in the tent cities of Mexico.
    10. Shutdown all drug trafficking by bombing Columbia, Mexico and France as necessary, then legalize Marijuana for the tax and license profits.

Lorenzo, "we can afford to lend money to other nations" ARE YOU SERIOUS? America is broke, there is a deficit. That means we owe more than we have. I did not misrepresent those numbers and in response I would say that you are trivalizing the very same numbers, as if they are of no consequence. And thank you for pointing out some VERY BIG NUMBERS. 100 billioin here, 300 billion there...its all INSANITY. Our so called elected officials have no fiscal responsibility what so ever. Of course, why should they care, ITS NOT THEIR MONEY - no skin in the game. We're finanically doomed.

And by the way, I especially like your proposed Presidential policies: #2 and #5 (although I think you are being way too generous in #5...I say 18 months, MAX). Seriously, if I was out of a job I'd bet $1000 to $1.00 that I'd have a job in 18 DAYS! If I had more time I'd add another 10 or 15 suggestions to your list above, but at least its a good start !

You know, I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that the whole left-vs-right debate is just a distraction from corporations paying lobbyists to pay congress to make laws that protect corporate profits at our expense.

I've heard people say it before, but now it's really getting clear. Why do we have taxpayer-subsidized mortgage loans? Because it helps bank profits at our expense. Why do we have LACK of taxpayer-subsidized healthcare? Because it helps insurance company profits at our expense.

Doesn't matter whether it's socialism, or monopoly capitalism. What will really happen in DC will happen to protect corporate profits at our expense. Just follow the money:

corporate profits -> lobbyists -> congressional campaign donations -> laws to protect corporate profits -> corporate profits -> lobbyists -> ...

That's all there really is to it, and they're going to take the whole country down. They can't help it. They love the money. There is only one question, really: How do you get corporate lobbyists out of DC?

"How do you get corporate lobbyists out of DC?"

Why can't we just make it illegal for corporations to lobby? A corporation that never dies, which has billions of dollars of capital at its discretion should NOT have the same rights as a citizen.

Leashing the federal government to constitutional limits is a way to at least mitigate the damage the fat cats can do.

Or what about forcing a bill presented to congress to actually be written by congresspeople, rather than by the corporations themselves. At the very least we should list the actual human author of the bill, and his/her income source. Additionally the bill should list the name of income source in the title. That way, our congresspeople would think twice about voting for the Bank of America TARP plan bill, for instance.

I like those ideas. Corporations are not people. They should not be able to lobby.

I also like the constitution and think we should enforce it. That means more states' rights I think.

It would be great if bills in congress were written by congressment, but heck, the don't even READ the bills they vote on. It's true! http://readthebill.org/about/

Ultimately, maybe it's time we had some kind of DIRECT democracy. At least we should individually be able to:

    1. read the bills ourselves, online
    2. vote under our own name, overriding the rep's fraction of the vote we gave them

So if there are 1 million people in a congressional district, we should be able to individually, publicly override one millionth of our rep's vote. Not secret ballot. It would have a lot of power to break ties.

You guys are on to something. In my opinion gov't is a two headed, single bodied monster. If the democrats "kill" the republicans the monster remains alive. If republicans "kill" the democrats the monster is still alive. Its no longer "Government of the people, by the people and for the people." Its become "Government of the politicians, by the politician's and for the politician's." Government continues to grow at the expense of the people. I believe that's why the founding fathers stressed limited government.

If one studies our current situation, most of our problems would not exist if our "public servants" would have followed the law of the land (The Constitution).

Think about it, if we had followed The Constitution America would have (1) sound money (2) a stable economy (3) limited government (4) much lower taxes (5) no "bailouts" (6) little if any inflation (7) no fractional reserve banking (8) freedom from the expense of foreign aid (9) little, if any, government intervention in private business (10) fewer laws, lawyers and lawsuits (11) fewer military bases around the world (12) no taxpayer dollars for "stimulus plans" (13) virtually no subsidies, housing or otherwise (14) none of the unintended consequences that accompany virtually all laws (15) America would be far more competitive in the world market-place (16) fewer companies and jobs would be going off-shore.

That's a good start, don't you agree? Do you like to read? Get your hands on anything by Ron Paul. There still might be hope left for America.

I love this idea. The problem is that there is zero chance that we could make the vote legally binding. However, you could perhaps popularize the method of online polling support for REAL legislation, rather than the sidewalk skewed polling question methos they use now. Imagine if people started to actually READ bills, AND "vote" for them online. Then you could give them a forum to bitch, moan, yell, etc at the representatives that don't do as the constituents wish.

It could perhaps revolutionize the process of political feedback. Think you are up to it?

    Patrick,

What you have said is great, except the part about government subsidized medicine. First off we have government subsidized medicine already for a large percentage of citizens: Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare/VA systems. Costs have not gone down as result of this, in fact quite the opposite because there is little if any accountability to the consumer/patient on behalf of the provider. But more importantly the supplies, drugs, equipment, training, and health care workers themselves even under a subsidized system are provided for by private individuals, institutions and corporations. As long as government is subsidizing health care it will offer advantages, lucrative contracts and guaranteed profits to these companies/individuals. We need to stop government from subsidizing health care so that prices can return to a fair market value. We also need to stop government subsidizing of insurance companies (through tax breaks) so that individual consumers can make their own choices and are not penalized for doing so. After we have done these things we can take a look at how to handle the problem of poverty and not being able to afford treatment (problems that will be reduced in scope if we can first reign in costs without rationing). First lets control costs by getting government (and the corporations who influence it) out of the way.

    Thanks for your comments Patrick.

    Elvis:

In reference to your rant, i think your right 3 years is way too much time to find a job. It would take me approximately 6 mos to find another position at the same payscale. The reason i say we can afford to lend money is because the numbers we speak of are peanuts in comparison to the 1 trillion spent to fund the IRAQ war.

Here is my new plan, including your updates.

    1. If 1 gangbanger commits a crime, then they all commit a crime. Charge them all with murder for the one individuals crime
    2. Cancel all welfare, healthcare for illegal immigrants
    3. Place the military at the CA and TX borders, gun down anyone attempting to cross illegally...especially Native Americans like myself trying to re-enter my very own land.
    4. Legalize any illegal immigrants willing to pursure a Masters Degree in college and learn extremely fluent ENGLISH
    5. Cut off welfare benefits for anyone after 18 mos, if you havent found a job after 3 years then you just aint trying
    6. Setup a tent city in Mexico for the lowlifes who refuse to work or pursue higher education in our country. Force them to rebuild the infrastructure of Mexico at minimum wage
    7. Demilitarize Russia, China and any other country that is a immediate threat to the security of the United States.
    8. I would bomb these countries back into the middle ages because they represent the #1 challenge to our national security.
    9. Round up all Crips, Bloods, KKK, Mexican Mafia and send them to live in the tent cities of Mexico to work at minimum wage.
    10. Shutdown all drug trafficking by bombing Columbia, Mexico and France as necessary, then legalize Marijuana for the tax and license profits.

    Here are my immigration laws:

    1. If you migrate to this county, you must speak the native language

    2. You have to be a professional or an investor. No unskilled workers
    allowed.

    3. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no
special ballots for elections, all government business will be
    conducted
    in our language.

    4. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they
    are here.

5 Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.

    6. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no
    food
stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs.

    7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount
equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

    8. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT
options will be restricted. You are not allowed waterfront property.
That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.

    9. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign
flag, no political organizing, no badmouthing our president or his
policies, if you do you will be sent home.

    10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down
    and sent straight to jail.

Harsh, you say? The above laws belong to the immigration laws of
    MEXICO!

Lorenzo, I'd like to add one more suggestion to your list. To be eligable to vote, one must have paid taxes for at least one year. Thats not asking too much is it? Abe.

well, that would go against our constitutional rights. It would be similar to retracting the right to bear arms. I like the idea though, becaues it would prove conservatives wrong in the theory that minority Dems dont work. It would actually work in reverse against conservatives because that base doesnt represent 10% of the electorate in either Party that voted this past election cycle. There are simply more Anglo-Germanic folks in this country than minority, and with the Conservative base being 90% anglo the base would get hit hard.

...plus the Dems would shut it down in Congress, they are too stupid to see it would work in their favor.

I refuse to sign the pledge because I actually enjoy the services of parks and recreation, sesame street...if that means I am socialist the so be it.

Government always needs to pull from various methods of economic development Socialism has its benefits and so does Capitalism.

Democratic socialism is an international movement for freedom, social justice, and solidarity. Its goal is to achieve a peaceful world where these basic values can be enhanced and where each individual can live a meaningful life with the full development of his or her personality and talents, and with the guarantee of human and civil rights in a democratic framework of society.

Hayek's views were echoed by Winston Churchill in an electoral broadcast prior to the British general election of 1945:

. . . a socialist policy is abhorrent to the British ideas of freedom. Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance.

Pretty much he was saying that if you get a nut in office...watch out!

Churchill also said: "Socialism is the philosophy of failure the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy."

The problems with socialism is that it rewards failure and punishes success, it forcibly takes form those who succeed and gives it to those who do not, it destroys prosperity. Socialism diminishes the work ethic and makes dependents out of people. It is capitalism that has created the highest standard of living in the history of mankind. Yet those who are the loudest in proclaiming their desire to help the "poor and downtrodden" are the loudest in denouncing capitalism. Capitalism allows the opportunity for personal success...socialism does not.

Socialism - spreading misery - for the common good.

I think you are referring specifically to Welfare, which has been under reform for the past 20 years. I dont see how socialist programs like Medicare, Police, Fire, US Postal Service, Sidewalks, Public Highways are enabling us to be more dependent. I actually enjoy going to the park. I make well over 100K and still could not afford decent healthcare which would suffice in times of tragedy. The Governator of California just repealed the 380 million Cal Works program aimed at putting welfare mothers back to work. This program was a part of the welfare to work reforms put in place over the past 10 years. The problem with society is that some people are so poor that they cannot afford to raise a family and when they make the irresponsible choice to bring a child into this world we are forced to pay their way and/or either put them and their families out in the street...leaving them to hunger and desperation (Crime).

Which option would you have for a mother of 3 whose husband makes $6 hour? The Streets or Welfare?

    Social Security
    • Medicare/Medicaid
    • State Children’s Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP)
    • Police, Fire, and Emergency Services
    • US Postal Service
    • Roads and Highways
    • Air Travel (regulated by the socialist FAA)
    • The US Railway System
    • Public Subways and Metro Systems
    • Public Bus and Lightrail Systems
    • Rest Areas on Highways
    • Sidewalks
    • All Government-Funded Local/State Projects (e.g., see Iowa 2009 federal senate appropriations)
    • Public Water and Sewer Services (goodbye socialist toilet, shower, dishwasher, kitchen sink, outdoor hose!)
    • Public and State Universities and Colleges
    • Public Primary and Secondary Schools
    • Sesame Street
    • Publicly Funded Anti-Drug Use Education for Children
    • Public Museums
    • Libraries
    • Public Parks and Beaches
    • State and National Parks
    • Public Zoos
    • Unemployment Insurance
    • Municipal Garbage and Recycling Services
    • Treatment at Any Hospital or Clinic That Ever Received Funding From Local, State or Federal Government (pretty much all of them)
    • Medical Services and Medications That Were Created or Derived From Any Government Grant or Research Funding (again, pretty much all of them)
    • Socialist Byproducts of Government Investment Such as Duct Tape and Velcro (Nazi-NASA Inventions)
    • Use of the Internets, email, and networked computers, as the DoD’s ARPANET was the basis for subsequent computer networking

Many will not recognize the problem with creeping socialsim is that it can never be satisfied. There are always countless other "necessities" that must be fulfilled. Subsidies, tariffs, handouts of all descriptions...in fact the list above only scratches the surface. The problem is someone must pay for all of that, and that someone is YOU. The government is broke, however the good news is they are working on a solution, woops - the bad news is the solution involves YOUR 401-K. Yes, you'll be hearing more about the new Gurananteed Retirement Account where the governmennt takes your 401-K money, but PROMISES

to give it back to you in the future (hahaha).

For most families the most expensive item on their budget is TAXES. Taxes to pay for a never ending list of "necessities". The parasite is killing the host. What the government should be teaching the public to be is self-sufficient, NOT dependent.
But if everyone didn't have their hand out maybe we wouldn't need so much government in the first place. SCREECH. Thats the sound of the government hitting the brakes. Government says "You need us to help you - you can't survive without us."
What they really mean is:"Oh crap - if the public were self-sufficient we'd be out of a job."

SOme might say that it takes a severly twisted view to compare social systems that support the entire American population equally, such as fire, police, Armed Forces, National Parks ...... with the (many different faces of) forced-wealth-redistibution systems of welfare, such as Section 8, ADC, MediCal, FreeSchoolLunch, headstart, EDB card, Paid tuition, free child care, free every-friggin-point-in-life care. No, no, folks, there is a big difference between SOCIAL support systems like National Defense and PERSONAL support systems like the forced-wealth-redistribution between tax-payers that America is crumbling from, known as welfare, but called anything-but-welfare.

"The mental disorder of liberalism is a cancer that is destroying America", is a phrase that seems to apply to many areas of American life at this time.
