Having a 40% voter turnout in these hard times is a disgrace. For the country and for democracy.

Already voted - And no, it was not a straight-party vote ...
If you don't vote, you can't complain ... so Vote Early and Vote Often.
And just in case any of you forgot, the Democrats vote on Tuesday and the Republicans vote on Wednesday. If you are dead or in jail, you can only vote absentee.

First of all, I drive to the address on my Voters registration, and the there's sign directing people to an empty parking lot, with "Vote HERE" plastered all over the parking lot. At the far end of the parking lot there's a "ONE WAY" sign, against the direction the sign suggests. Which suggest you wouldn't enter through there, but instead the poll station is in the building that is on the parking lot. Well it turns out the polling place was on the other side of the 12ft hedges that lined this ginormous empty parking lot, on the opposite side of the lot, in the opposite direction that the arrows suggests.
So I finally get to the poll and there's a disclaimer on the Ballot security cover, to Bubble you selection precise, and make sure no other marks on the ballot, or your vote will not be counted. So after 20 minutes of filing out the Ballot, it gets fed into a machine and I'm thanked and given a sticker.
"Well what's my proof that all of my selections counted?"
The worker there:"Well we feed it into the machine, and it reads it, we don't know the results until they get counted later."
"Exactly!" I said...
I mean what about people that don't color the bubble exactly right, what's the level of precision that the reader needs? I mean there's already a disclaimer on the cover sheet. The lady is arguing with me, not getting my point.
There's no Goddamn way this is better than a punch ballot. I predict cries of Fraud in Florida dominating the news for the next three months, regardless the out come. There's going to be some sore losers tonight(either party), and rightly So. You heard it here first.
What in the hell was even wrong with the electronic ballot we had last season, where it was all done via touch screen, I had a hell of a lot more faith in that, than this Chicken Shit Micky Mouse process.
Yeah I Voted, but only 50% sure it counted... :(

Well, if Florida didn't have so many issues in 2000, maybe you wouldn't be using these machines today.
And I'm pretty sure the machines were made by a Republican-affiliated company, so don't get your panties in such a bunch.

I do absentee. Rather pay the two stamps than waste my time with the election stuff.
I had trouble on 19, I think the current state of legalization should be kept to see what happens over a decade or so.
So I just left it blank.
If the DeMint cockous and the Party of Kill Obama wasn't 1 or 2 seats away from 51 and Tom Campbell were the alternative he might have gotten my vote (I voted for him in 2000 when I was a bit less partisan about opposing the Republicans). Complicating matters is that Boxer did vote against the Iraq War thing, one of the few to make the right call back in 2002.
I voted for the $20 plate thing, since entry fees are $20 now I figure this is a better deal than the $125 annual pass.
I left the Lt Gov vote blank. Don't particularly like that guy and wish he'd go away.

Troy, thanks for sharing (really!) I was curious how you went on the Senate vote (given your past with Campbell); I almost hurled on my ballot after checking the box. Thanks for pointing out some of her redeeming qualities. I just couldn't have the repeal of ObamaCare on my head (ask me in a decade if I feel differently...)

Voting a write in ticket is akin to not voting. 60% of Americans don't vote already...not all are "lazy"....some % of those who are silent are perhaps as disgruntled as you. I don't mean to pick on surfingerman...my own husband did a write in for one of the races in WA. But I made the identical point to him: your protest is mute.
The reality is VOTE for the better of two choices (others say the lesser of two evils). Tomorrow, and all days until the next election, get behind / support / promote a candidate whose background, positions, agendas, etc are in line with what will meld with what you value and what might work for the better of America as a whole. If no one exists that fits that bill, run yourself or keep looking (reading, examining records).... But on election day, absent a clear choice, I think you still need to make a studied choice and cast a "real" vote.

That sentiment Invented my Political philosophy. I never voted in my adult life, until the 96 elections to vote republican at the behest of an army of smug emboldened Clintonites, telling me that by not voting Democrat I was voting Republican, and Voting Nader was wasting my vote. Liberals seem to think that those that don't vote, are really like minded voters at heart. Never kick a terd on a hot day, you might get what you wished for.

The House can still muck with it now by not funding it, assuming the (R)s run the place 2011.
It's designed to kick in in 2014 though so there's not much Boehner can really do I guess. We'll see : )

No...I definitely don't think silent voters are like minded. Don't be ridiculous.
They are either (a) very busy (either busy in a survival mode way OR busy in a 21st century career mode); (b) very disgruntled; or, (c) very ignorant and/or patently stupid.
I give T-Rex the benefit of the doubt and put him squarely in the disgruntled mode. Do something with your anger. Move to the positive. I saw a thread where you felt taken advantage of by Wells Fargo. Contact WF and inquire why your expectation of being moved into an unsecured credit card did not come to pass. If they are, in fact, toying with you....contact a supervisor or manager. Failing that, elevate your complaint to Elizabeth Warren. Oh, now...I've said too much.... JUST VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE.

That sounds like self effacing humor T-Rex. No one patently stupid is capable of that. You are an obvious (b). :) Just vote next time.

I'm watching Obama's press conference, which just ended.
He's speaking like a wimp, the ghost of Jimmy Carter. Still more claptrap about bipartisanship and reaching across the isle and into Boehners pants. Enough already. As someone else said, at least Hillary Clinton has balls.
Obama should have gone for the jugular on Jan 2009 and nationalized ALL the big banks. Then this nonsense election result would not have happened. The pox on Geithner and Summers. But in reality, the Bushies had already committed so much of the TARP money (and with bad terms for the public) that his hands were tied.
So instead he should have prosecuted vigorously until the banks said uncle. But no, he wanted to forgive an forget the economic crimes, just as he has forgiven and forgotten Bush's war crimes. And now we see what the voters thought of that approach. Crap.

Then the 10% unemployment would be blamed on teh socialism. There was no policy fix. The post-2007 economy is going to look like the post-1929 economy, for similar reasons.
The Dems already got slammed for "taking over" the car industry and "taking over" health care and ramming it down our throats.
With a nation of tards, there is no fix. Curiously, 60% of the electorate didn't even bother to vote. I wonder what's up with that.

Troy, yeah I know.
But people are no longer angry about the car industry, are they? The naive "independents" that can't think straight are angry that bankers are not punished, not about GM. So they vote Tea Party because TP preaches responsibility.
We shall soon see whether TP practices what they preach.
