Patrick.net is one of my favorite sites on the internet, and the site I check out most for housing information and advice. Most of the posters and commenters are knowledgeable in the area of housing and economics. In addition many have a good sense of humor.
However, there some very stupid things written by some. I invite anyone to share some of the dumbest things they have read from posters on this site. They might be worth a few more laughs...

Nominations for the Dumbest things read on Patrick.net

pretty much all of American Graffitti runs through my mind all day ... I mentally insert lines from the movie into my day, and sing the sound track at random. I think that is pretty much how I cope and get through each day. lol
These are few that were used by me and my buds a few zillion times in the 80's-early 90s.
"... wax on, wax off..."
"... best way block punch, no be there..."
" ... use the force ..."
" ... that's not a knife, THIS is a knife ..."
"... I got a lotta mo Balboa!... You a paper champion! ..." (Mr. T in Rocky #)
"... Oh My God, Becky! ..." (Baby Got Back)
my favorite right now is "apple pie" .. but, that is an "insider" thing.

Did anyone really believe this guy is a programmer ? I mean seriously, we have a lot of programmers around here. I'm not saying that a conservative or republican programmer is impossible. It's not at all. But this guy ? Please.

He said he was an engineer, and he referred to finding bugs. That makes him a programmer of some kind, or possibly QA, quality assurance, testing software. Either way, highly unlikely, both jobs require a fair amount of calm thoughtful reasoning. Seems fictional to me, that is the entire character and his posts.

MF is the most spectacularly trollingishly troll I've seen on the internet. Normally I might say he's got a low signal-to-noise ratio, but in his case it seems he's providing us an actively *negative* signal, something I have never seen before and thus did not think possible.
Going back and removing damning misstatements from an already combative missive is a key example of something I have never seen before on the internet, maybe because being able to edit one's comments is rare, but reddit has comment editing and I've never had to deal with such active dishonesty.

Just in case there's any doubt how much of an idiot you are, here's more info from Mish:
http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2009/04/case-shiller-march-2009-analysis.html
If you assume May 2006 was the peak (even though it wasn't according to his chart), the total drop from the 10-city and 20-city indexes was 30% and 29%, respectively, by January 2009. If you are saying there was a 25% drop between May-Nov 2006, that means housing only dropped ~5% in 2007-2009. Yeah, that pretty much ranks on the top of the list of stupid thoughts.

I'll take it by your complete lack of support for your position that you cannot support your position and your sole purpose here is to annoy. You can't even provide one chart that shows what you are talking about. In the off chance you aren't just insulting or cheerleading, you offer stupid statements with no support whatsoever. Just put up the chart that shows a 25% decline in C-S in any form from May 2006 to Nov 2006. If you can't do this, then I think it is clear that Mr. F has proven he is completely full of crap and doesn't understand nominal, cumulative or any other concept remotely involving math or reading.

That's nice that you post directly to this thread, so there's no need to copy and paste. Just an easy quote to preserve for future reference so that you don't edit it and try to change history later. Thanks for showing your true colors with this one.
I don't like the "ignore" function, but I think you deserve it. Sorry if I don't respond to future posts of yours; it's not just because they are worthless and stupid, it's just because I don't see them.

Here's his numbers again from mid-2006:
San Jose CA $599.2 $372.4 61% overpriced
zillow shows the 95112 zip had a $600,000 valuation in July 2006 and bottomed at $374,000 in May 2009.
That's not prediction, that's fucking magic.

Mistermister:
Your use of the word "faggot" was used incorrectly, in that you allege ch_ta & Troy are gay if only because they disagree with you and support a statement by Winzer. There is a huge difference between quoting someone and performing a sexual act upon him - I would hope that you would know that, but it appears as though you missed that day in school. It does remind me of an interchange I had with a guy in high school:
Boy - do you know the difference between a Big Mac & a blowjob?
Elliemae - no.
Boy - Wanna go to lunch? ;)
But I digress. Other posters' disagreeing with you, especially in the respectful manner in which they do, is perfectly acceptable to the awards committee. Notice that ch_ta stated that your posts are worthless and stupid, but he/she didn't attack you personally by alleging that you lack intelligence or the ability to participate in a reciprocal conversation. I polled the members of the committee and we all agreed that it's a fine line between clever & stupid. Guess which side of the line you're on?
When you use a pejorative term and common homophobic slur to attack a fellow poster, you are no longer eligible for a patnet award although your comments were added to the "most offensive" awards, to be held later this year in Oil City, Pennsylvannia.
If you would like to appeal this decision, please do so without using the word "faggot" and I will forward your concerns to the committee.

@ellie,
Please understand that I am not defending Mr.Fantastic with my comments. I just had something to add. In my world, around my friends, we used "faggot" as a common putdown, on the same level as buttwipe, assbreath, dickhead, prick, stupid, idiot, queer, ect ect. Pretty much just another sophomoric put-down. Even to this day, if someone suggests doing something in an entirely idiotic way I may be overheard saying that doing it that way would be "gay". I do not mean it would be sexually deviant, I mean it would be the wrong way to do something - just as an example. Same thing for name calling, I have been called a faggot about 9 bazzilion times, and the N word, and all of the different ways to describe male and female anatomy ... I have been called them all. It's just words, vocabulary, used to express ones self.
I have no idea if Mr.Fantastic was suggesting that the other posters were sexual deviants, and if so, that makes little sense.
As I have tried to say, on-line there is no sex, hence no sexual identity, hence we are all gay and straight and slutty and prudish and male and female ... becasue on here we all be just words.
For the record, I do not agree with namecalling very often.

I work with kids. And saying "that's gay" sounds very innocent to me and relatively meaningless. But the word "faggot" to me is an ugly hate word. I'm straight, but I just find that word very ugly. And usually when I hear it, it is an expression of hate or sounds very much that way to me.
Maybe its because one of the only times I ever was called that name, it was as a kid, my photography class went on a field trip to another high school to see an exhibit. I had very long hair, was kind of thin, not effeminate, but maybe a little bit of a pretty boy, definitely not the most burly super macho looking guy. This moron from the other school looked me in the eyes, from about twenty feet away, with a very mean attitude and says "faggot !" This guy did not know me, and this was meant as far as I could tell as fighting words.
No I didn't fight him, he clearly would have kicked my ass.
I would say that it's very much like the N word in that regard, if used with friends it might be almost amusing in some contexts, but it can be used as one of the most ugly hate words.

You said that you "used" the term, so I'm assuming that you did this during your sophomoric younger years. That's cool. It's even cool if you were to use the term "faggot" with your friends in private now. There's a common use of the word "gay:" people often say, "that's so gay..." I don't care, nor am I judging people who use such terms.
I believe - and correct me if I'm wrong - that the use of the word faggot on a public forum in conjunction with more than one reference to two posters performing a sexual act on another man, and the obvious disdain which the self-branded Mr. Fantastic holds toward these posters, to whom he has stated he feels intellectually superior; well he was purposefully trying to be offensive.
So no award for him. Or soup, for that matter.

@marcus .... I may have been that burly looking fellow in your past ... we all did and said things as kids that look kinda mean now. I have classic man looks, and even a blind person would know I'm extra-straight, from 30 yards away, in poor lighting.... I simply emit "MAN" .... me and Chuck Norris share this trait. lol
@ellie ..... I have to be honest, in the right group of buddies, it is still sophmoric names for all ... even at 42 and chubby and gray. None of my buddies are queer(openly), but we are all perverted sinners, and fathers, and husbands, and we still do silly things that are embarassing when they are accidently done in mixed company.
I was called an ethnic slur on Friday at the coffee shop at 5am by a life long friend ... he was expressing his displeasure with how close I parked to his driver's door as we pulled in at the same time, forcing him to move his truck before exiting ... yes .. it was funny, and sophmoric, and his choice of words fit the moment pretty well in our world. He also used the F word as the only adjective for a few senrtences. Who starts their day better than that?
