How many women, children, and elderly Iraqi's were incinerated or blown to bits during the Iraq War 2 invasion? 500,000?

    So who should go home?

iraq war death toll officially around 100,000 of which

16k Iraqi military and police killed by insurgents.
    26K Iraqi insurgents were killed.
    5K US and Coalition deaths.

there were also many sectarian deaths unrelated to US
and Coalition forces based on various ethnic groups...
see the Balkan War in early 90s were we had no hand
    in the ground war wage.

in addition criminals ran a mock with killings on their own Iraqi citizens.

so your numbers are way off and many are not attributed to US forces.

If you bother to pick up the paper even today with NO US FORCES Iraqi continue
    to kill each others...

    From the AP article:

In Baghdad, a city of about 5.6 million, 4,279 people were recorded killed in the 12 months through April 30, [2004], according to figures provided by Kais Hassan, director of statistics at Baghdad's Medicolegal Institute, which administers the city's morgues. "Before the war, there was a strong government, strong security. There were a lot of police on the streets and there were no illegal weapons", he said during an AP reporter's visit to the morgue. "Now there are few controls. There is crime, revenge killings, so much violence." The figure does not include most people killed in big terrorist bombings, Hassan said. The cause of death in such cases is obvious so bodies are usually not taken to the morgue, but given directly to victims' families. Also, the bodies of killed fighters from groups like the al-Mahdi Army are rarely taken to morgues.

Moreover, other sources at the time were coming in with numbers that were a tiny fraction of the 98,000 figure that the Lancet settled on. From a New York Times article on the Lancet study:

“The 100,000 estimate immediately came under attack. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw of Britain questioned the methodology of the study and compared it with an Iraq Health Ministry figure that put civilian fatalities at less than 4,000. Other critics referred to the findings of the Iraq Body Count project, which has constructed a database of war-related civilian deaths from verified news media reports or official sources like hospitals and morgues. That database recently placed civilian deaths somewhere between 14,429 and 16,579, the range arising largely from uncertainty about whether some victims were civilians or insurgents. But because of its stringent conditions for including deaths in the database, the project has quite explicitly said, ”Our own total is certain to be an underestimate.”

I wish there was a party that looked out for the middle class . The immigrtaion bill shows the extremity of the two party system. Dems will legalize the 12 million illegals and to support it, repubs like Orrin Hatch want 350k H1B visas to come in every single year-instead of 60k annually. A big giveaway for the corporations. Republicans satisfy their base and dems theirs. But the curious thing is, I wonder why folks vote republican, when they cater to the corporations??

some of our problems are home grown... not many people want to be geeks and those who go STEM get shot down very easily...

Why would-be engineers end up as English majors

    http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/05/17/education.stem.graduation/index.html

Undergraduates across the country are choosing to leave science, technology, engineering and math programs before they graduate with those degrees. Many students in those STEM fields struggle to complete their degrees in four years, or drop out, according to a 2010 University of California, Los Angeles, study.

The study, conducted by UCLA's Higher Education Research Institute, found students in science, math and engineering take longer to complete their degrees than students who start out majoring in other fields. The study tracked thousands of students who entered college for the first time in 2004.

"Many students want to be in science, but very talented people are choosing other fields. That shouldn't be the case," Hurtado said. "It's important to understand how we close this gap."

Poor scientific literacy among college students is one reason students pursuing science and math are less likely to graduate from those programs. High school graduates aren't prepared for first-year science classes in college, Hurtado said.
    .
    .
But there's another problem, too: Higher education, itself. Science and math programs are designed and taught to winnow down the number of students. University tenure systems often reward professors who conduct research and publish their work, but not those who teach well.

Business valuation, especially discounted cash flow, but including other valuation problems
Scenario planning and management decision making ("what is"; "what if"; "what has to be done")
    Capital budgeting
Cost of capital (i.e. WACC) calculations
