if you do and a tornado does that the house...be assured that it could have been prevented if everyone prayed a lot or maybe sent Pat a check

Any websites to find houses where tornadoes can never happen?

You can try buying a house in Antarctica. Tornaodoes never happen there. Too cold and dry. Maybe the middle of the Sahara desert. But they do get dust devils!

Why on Earth does Ohio, Kansas, etc. not mandate underground shelters in Trailer Parks?

It can't be ridiculously expensive to excavate a hole in the ground for people to sit in for a few minutes.

Auntie Em and Uncle Owen were smart enough to have dug a cellar.

We can't have those evil socialists telling us what to do!

Pat Robertson is the jackass who said Hurricane Katrina was sent by god to kill the immoral New Orleans, but since tornadoes strike in the heartland, they can't be sent by god. What a hypocritical ass!

And then Robertson states that tornadoes are a mechanism that god uses to transfer heat around the world. The dumb ass doesn't even know how localized tornadoes are. Still, someone must have tried explaining heat engines to this fool.

Ironically, the residents of Kansas are partly responsible for the tornadoes. Kansas has been a state of climate change deniers, and severe weather including tornadoes and hurricanes are amplified by the greenhouse effect.

Pat Robertson is Gods' gift to atheism.

As the head atheist here, I say toss him back in the primordial ocean.

Tornadoes are not a new weather phenomenon. Instead of building houses out of sticks, we should be building them out of better materials that don't have the bad characteristics of wood.

I built an ICF home with a full basement about 2 years ago and I do not worry about it too much. The only vulnerable parts would be the windows which can't be 100% hardened to 100 mph+ wind driven missiles. I figure that keeping the beds away from the windows will eliminate most of the risk of a fatal hit at night when I am unable to take shelter in the basement.

The house did not cost that much more than a stick built house. Aside from the thicker door jams and wider window seats, you can't readily tell what it is.

Agree, most houses are poorly-constructed. Most new ones especially.

Neut. Why even use steel? Of course. The insulation factor of steel or even concrete vs stone can't even come near the RF factor of stone. Cool in the summer always, even in the desert. Warm in the winter. Many countries. Still to this very day have Stone houses not only standing but being lived in THAT ARE 500 YEARS OLD!. With no rehab in 500 years! Stone masons are very gifted. Building huge churchs out of stone. So don't think you can't get a large structure out of that. Hurricaines forget it. Tornados, no problem just sit and have a snack and play some games. Because a tornado ain't gonna bother that nor any inclement weather. Not even "the big bad wolf" hahaha.

Take someone like you that understands architecture. Stone brought into this century. The results would be I am very sure incredible. Pools, fountains, natural gas. Baths. Incredible hearths. Cook on that - food - roasted vegi's, steaks, roasts. Lamb (way to high). Then downstairs a large well designed root cellar. Next to that well something similar to "age" steaks, chops and meat.

Add to that the guys that you "hired" to raise your livestock and grow your food. My own addition of course. Then quarters etc. Its nice to have good food and a nice place to live.

Yep concrete I am afraid will not last near as long so thats a no-go. Wood never ment to be used. PLANNED OBSOLESENCE. You want to keep someone at work AND their childern your not going to give them anything thats going to last. Destruction of wood is just insane. People must like eating really shitty food. I have seen some really funny looking livestock also from pursing something that should not be used in anything really. There are "grains" they should have that aren't even around any more. Because their are things that last way, way longer and work way, way better. If you took salt out of the ocean there would be a lot of dead fish. People wonder why "food" dosen't grow everywhere. That's one of the reasons.

Want a quick trick to tell if an area is poor or not?

See how many shopping plaza churches there are. :)
