Ok - so I was scouting properties back on the east coast - in an area that I visit frequently and lived for 24 years. Considering picking up a rental or two. Found a couple solid deals on a few town homes in good areas. I called to find out if there were any HOA's - how much, and what they covered.

The agent was initially turned off by the fact that I lived across the country, but when I told her my entire family lived in the area she perked up. Anyhow, she did answer my question about the HOA.... End of conversation. Nice lady... or so I thought.

Next day I get a hundred listings in my inbox from her asking me to look them over. 10 minutes later she calls me wanting to go over the listings on the phone. I comply; she was doing a great job as an agent.

Well, after reviewing all the properties - I was able to determined that they were all in crummy, run down areas, with high drug use/trafficking. I brought it to her attention that these properties sucked and that they were in the ghetto. She immediately got offended and told me they were all in a good part of town.

Lies.

I guess she forgot that I grew up in the area and visited 2 months ago. Nothing has changed - if anything it's gotten worse.

She continued to push me to put in an offer on a POS - lipstick on a pig. Older house, new siding, took good photo's, but right next to crack houses.. The entire time she complained about how business was slow, and that she was already out $75k on her own home since the market collapsed.

So much for a "buyers agent" being on your side.

Some are good. Some aren't. Just like in any other profession.

It's pretty simple, people look out for themselves, it's called self interest, self preservation, number 1, etc. How could any agent be on anyone's side but their own?

I asked a buyer agent recently to show me a HUD home for sale. As we were walking through the house, he told me how it's been over a year since he made a sale. But wait, the housing crisis did not impact San Antonio! Right....

Right, but not all professions have a vested financial interest that is contrary to their clients.

This type of business model can corrupt even "good ones".

Lol.. So far the realturds are 2 for 2.

The past two agents I've worked with in 2012 have been terrible, misleading, lying, rude and pathetic.
