The problem with the title is that it describes an individual who has performed their work for many years, yet has not discovered a way to retire, even though retirement services are what they provide.

Instinctively it is contradictory because if the person was so great at what they did, they would be retired! Well in defense, maybe this person is just bad with money and that's why they are still working. Then why would anyone get financial advice from them?

A second viewpoint against this being an oxymoron is that “well maybe they love what they are doing”. This is invalid as well because they are in the business of telling people that they should give up their work, retire. If the consultant worked for pleasure and he/she is advocating people to quit their jobs, then he/she is contradicting their own beliefs. This would make them a fake and another reason not to get their services! Instead he/she should be a career adviser directing people towards a more fulfilling career.

He's a retirement consultant. This is not a get rich quick scheme. Plenty of people get hired into a position with a Senior title.

Many retirement advisors and funds don't want you to retire. They want you to keep working towards a pie in the sky goal i.e. a 3000 sq ft house with a golf course on one side and a boat and waterway on the other, restaurant meals two or three times a week and unrestrained travel/vacations/cruises.

Fact is, they lose money when you start spending yours to retire, so what do you think they are going to tell you, plus, as noted, advisors to retirees aren't retired themselves, they want to climb on board your savings, so to speak. Your money, their brains.

Time and health become more valuable the older you get, you will never get them back if you don't jump ship as soon as you can and then do the best you can and enjoy while you can.
I have known some financial advisers, they do not all practice what they preach.
