Maybe this statement was too strong for sensitive people? A softer message may be;

Debt gives another person claim to your assets. If your assets fall short, the lender can claim ownership to your future income. Your income comes from your hard work. Thus, the lender owns the fruits of your hard work, which is analogous to slavery.

The only difference is that the debtor voluntarily put themselves under the constraints of another person or entity. So maybe a better/softer logo would be;

Debt is Voluntary Slavery.

I have the "Debt is Slavery" PatNet bumper sticker on my car.

Only sticker besides AAA to EVER go on my car, so that says something.

I even have an extra one in an envelope for next car.

Still want a beer stein with it.

I ran across this conference while web searching, and I wonder what papers came out of it?

thats funny the cops also want u to load up on debt so their pension funds can make money speculating on RE, buying up land, bulk foreclosures, REIT shares and of course they want everyone to way overpay for a house so that property tax revenues are as high as possibel.

Even though the cops are not this smart - it works out to be 'they hate hippies/occupiers/anti establishment people' and pull you over. And they all are upside down on a mortage and u pissed em off.

Slavery too often has a racial connotation. Only the last 300 of the past 10,000 years has race inseparably been associated with slavery. That is only 3% of the time. Historically, due to lesser human mobility, slaves have been of a similar race/ethnicity as their captures.

Unfortunately, current conditions may not have entirely reverted to historic trends. One only has to look at the globalized debt markets for support. Here it is easy to see how countries voluntarily sell themselves to other cultures for temporary gain. But again, this would be voluntary slavery due to the debtor nation’s own stupidity! Is it China’s fault that we keep selling ourselves to them, or is it ours?
