Or at least Britain can't live on renewables alone:

Of course. It is going to be mostly fossil fuel and nuclear.

The main problem with renewables: the energy is too "diffuse." Use of renewables means a *huge* amount of area dedicated to energy collection. Remember, rich liberals on Cape Cod couldn't stand the thought of a few offshore wind turbines "spoiling" their view.

We need concentrated, high-density energy. Like we get from fossil sources, nuclear, and hydro*.

*most good hydroelectric sites worldwide are already dammed
