Romney outrages Palestinians by suggesting Israeli culture is superior

During a fundraiser for Jewish-American supporters, Romney hinted that the Israeli economy is prospering, unlike the Palestinian Authority, due to its superior culture.

Funny I didn't think Romney was a puppet, but it appears that AIPAC has a fist up his rear and is making his lips move...and from the looks of it, he's rather enjoying the experience, or is he? I saw him with Netyahu yesterday and I couldn't figure out if he was smiling or cringing. Probably a little bit of both.

Don't worry Mitt, if you become President you'll begin to enjoy the experience.

Yes, all the Palestinians need to do is stand in MORE strip-search lines, have their houses bulldozed, and magically they will prosper.

My cousin visited Palestine recently, she found it pretty horrifying the procedure for them to go to work. Her camera was confiscated when she took a picture of people standing in line. One the one hand, you can see why the Israelis are paranoid. On the other hand, you treat everyone guilty until proven innocent, well....

3 wars by 6 hostile Arab nations since inception of Israel not to mention hundreds of terrorists attacks, you learn to take precautions.. IDF learned the hard way a lefty German is as deadly as a Arab Palestinian! They have their own scars...

and today a crazy Persian screaming there was no Holocaust priming his nation with nuclear weapons... stating he will destroy Israel.

I hope they continue to be vigilant !

Romney goes to England-National Health Service
Romney goes to Israel & brags about their superior culture & what do they have?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Israel

"Health care in Israel is universal and participation in a medical insurance plan is compulsory."

What do all the other Conservatives have to say about this Socialist nation? Let's send more Conservative tax dollars in aid to Israel.

They were walled in, by a culture that was walled in ONCE, to a horrific end.

'nuff said!

I thought Jews would be the last people on Earth to wall anyone in.

Now all that being said, Obama didn't win his Nobel Peace prize for his "Peace" creation efforts. So let's be honest and clear here.

Work is Freedom.

War is Peace.
Freedom is Slavery.
Ignorance is Strength.

It really is a shame that those two peoples can't get along. The sons of Ishmael and the sons of Isaac never really have tho. I don't know why we care so much, or why we insist on sending billions of dollars we have to borrow in order to keep a national socialist state solvent. Anyone else find it ironic that the very people victimized by such a government in Germany found it expedient to adopt such a system for their own nation?

The part I don't get, is this...

If Israelis are that mistrustful of Palestinians, why allow them into their territory at all?

Oh right, they want someone to dig out a septic tank, bus tables, you know all the 3rd-class shit jobs.

10   freak80   2012 Jul 31, 6:55am

Why didn't we give the Jews part of Germany? Wasn't it Germany that put the Jews in ovens? It wasn't the Palestinians.

Heck I say that even though I'm mostly of German ancestry.

Yeah I get that Palestine was the Jewish "homeland" but it's not such a good idea to kick people out that have been living there for a 1000 years. Obviously they're going to be pissed off. Add in the religious conflict and it's even worse.

It'd be like the U.N. kicking out all of the Europeans from North America. Is it the right thing to do? Probably, but it's not going to go over too well is it?

I thought Palestine was controlled by the British back then. So they did not exactly take it fron the Palestinians.

It would have been more entertaining IMO if we'd given them half of Utah.

and how many were left.. from the 20M that once 'lived" in Germany!

dead man tell no tales! how many lived to see the liberation from the death camps..

a small handful... not many lived afterwards.. nothing "entertaining" about it!

Hmmm, interesting.

Which is more of a wasteland? Utah or Israel?

If Mitt Romney thinks Palestinians are culturally inferior based on economic performance, does he also think the Red States are culturally inferior? Blue States pay the lion's share of taxes and outperform Red States based on numerous economic measures...

Here we go again with that same old mantra.

There are no "red states" or "blue states." There are just "red counties" (rural) and "blue counties" (urban). The blue states simply have more urban areas than rural areas.

Of course cities generate more GDP than rural areas. That's not too shocking. Unfortunately, rural areas are still needed for basic commodities like food, oil, gas, minerals, lumber, and even water. Lots of expensive infrastructure is needed to bring all of those commodities (spread out over vast distances) into the cities.

If the "blue states" want to constantly invoke the "red states are deadbeats" meme, then I suppose we could just privatize the road network and go back to the railroad baron days. Does the Democrat party really want to make privatization of public infrastructrue their central platform?

The term is the term and it means what the commonly accepted meaning is. I love it how you guys love something until it happens to work against you and then you wiggle and deconstruct in order to dissemble.

Anyway, mitt came from a red state but decided to run for office in a blue state. I wonder why that was?

Yes! Privatize the road network!

What are you talking about? What do you mean by "you guys"?

I was simply stating a fact: blue states have more people living in urban areas than rural areas. They also have more people period. Of course those areas are going to have more economic activity!

That has nothing to do with my (or anyone else's) political views.

If the blue states want to quit paying taxes for public roads in the red states, that's fine. Make all roads private toll roads or dismantle them altogether. Everything can travel on railroads owned by private corporations like Union Pacific, BNSF, Norfok Southern, and CSX. But that sounds like a Republican idea, not a Democrat one.

Obfuscation. Since the red states are the one screaming free trade, socialism and such-maybe they should follow their own rhetoric-since they receive the bulk of the benefits of "socialism". They remind me of teenagers who live in your house, eat your food and think you are dumb and they are so smart. Or like this man who wants the govt out of medicare http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nggq31L8zWw#!

Now, back to the issue. I think the Israeli Palestinian conflict is just the age old conflict humans have always had. America started out small and expanded. CA, NM, TX, AZ were all part of Mexico and we took it from them. Other empires have ebbed and flowed through time . The Mongols went all the way to Europe , Alexander the Great great came east and conquered anything in his way. The sun literally never set on the British empire.

The only difference in Israel , was that it was born after World War II. The horrors-especially to the Jewish people - changed the mindset of what is "acceptable." Before, a strong country like Israel would have kept expanding and by now would have probably conquered Saudi or at least a few other states. Well at least tried . The Muslims when they invaded other countries, forcibly converted them, burnt down their religious places and built mosques over them. In India, several temples were destroyed by the Muslims and then when the Hindus drove them away-they rebuilt their temples. This cycle continued for centuries-with invaders coming in from Afghansistan and such.

Afghanistan itself was once Hindu/Buddhist, before being over run by muslim armies and converted. In Europe the Christians drove them away from Spain and Portugal and after a few centuries-only the architechture remains.

Under modern "acceptable" means, Israel can't do that. They can't just foricbly convert them. They can't join palestine with Israel, because Jews will become a minority in the Jewish state. They can't chase them away and take the land-not acceptable. So they are stuck. As are the poor Palestinians-who have probably endured the longest siege known to mankind. I can't even imagine what it must be like to be born there, knowing you will be stuck there with no hope at all. I really thought Romney was a strong candidate. It would serve our country well if we had two strong leaders engage in a fight for ideas. Muckracking politics is part and parcel of politics, but Romney is just a doofus, who reminds me of a deer caught in the headlights, or perhaps Mr Magoo
