The split was the same as 2004 -- 78% of them for the Republican.

This is *very* surprising to me.

But Romney's numbers were lower than McCain's. I don't understand that at all. I guess the Christianists held their nose, since no way in hell did they want the crypto-muslim to remain in charge of "their" country, but plenty of other people with less skin in the game decided to sit this one out.

And since Obama lost millions of votes this time around too, that magnified the evangelical proportion I guess. Really a miracle Obama won this one, losing so many voters.

I don't get the reasoning for the Christians etc. wanting a republican.
