First thing every dictator does is disarm civilian population telling them it is for their safety. That bullshit sales pitch works every time on people who never learn from their history.

2   Bigsby   2012 Dec 21, 1:03am

Who would want to own a 68 foot gun in the first place?

"Is Gun Control Racist?"

I had a long time Black music collaborator over a few nights ago to play music. He's a friend of mine, I have mentioned him here a few times, how he is not very fond of Obama or this administration. He brought a drummer with him a younger black man, and when we took a break out on the patio. The gun control topic came up. Let me tell you, you would have thought THEY were hardcore Tea Party members. If these guys would have been White, even I would have been at odds with them. And no doubt debated them heavily to change their minds on somethings they said. I do have some classic Democrat views(not many in it's current incarnation).
I just sat there letting them go on and on, I didn't say a word. I had two thoughts. One, I would have loved to had some of the Patnet libs present, so they(the Patnet libs) could see how silly they sound, when they go on with their race baiting crap.

The second thing was, had they been posting on Patnet, they would have no doubt, been called racist, and probably confused for Shrek or Bap33.

Those private citizens are dressed rather strangely. Maybe it's fancy dress in their back garden.

Ahhh... I knew something along the lines of McCarthyism would makes its way into such a conversation. ( golf clap). How totally original.

One does not need to be original to defeat same old and bad leftist ideas about gun control we hear every year.

I deleted some of the most recent comments(including mine) because edvard2 was on a tangent that brought nothing to the thread, and I hate reading through detracting tangents.

So in other words, comments that weren't to your liking. I see... Well then, I reckon I'll have to re-post them because they were perfectly valid. Why? Because for DECADES we've been hearing these weird conspiracies from many on the right that somehow, we're all heading towards some sort of communist hell because a democrat is in the white house. But then if a Republican gets elected, oh- well then they're totally silent. I guess I'm just tired of hearing this when there's zero reasoning behind it.

Thanks for getting to the point, no problem leaving that comment in.

The people support mediocrity because most people are mediocre or worse.

14   NuttBoxer   2012 Dec 21, 3:12am

For one of "your" counter-points, you linked to an article from almost 10 years ago to prove that everyone currently supports our central governments warmongering!?

Maybe you should pull a quote from the middle ages to prove that the earth is flat.

15   NuttBoxer   2012 Dec 21, 5:54am

I never said "was". You asked for examples, I gave you current examples. You didn't see me referencing the civil war right? What's so hard to understand?

Ohh, it's invalidates your point... I see.

Or maybe you think we're no longer in Iraq? Now who's being naive...

FYI, if you didn't support the site, this would all be deleted(mine too). It detracts from my post, and no one besides you or me cares at this point.

I would say the 2002-2003 march to war was government (along with certain media interests) going to war with the barest margin of public support.

Only 27% opposed military action, the smallest percentage since the polls began in April 2002. The percentage of Americans supporting an invasion without UN support jumped eight points to 37%

and

If the U.N. Security Council were to reject a resolution paving the way for military action, 54% of Americans favored a U.S. invasion. And if the Bush administration did not seek a final Security Council vote, support for a war dropped to 47%

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_opinion_in_the_United_States_on_the_invasion_of_Iraq#January_2003

Here we have the government lying to the American people to convince them to go to war.

Once troops were in Iraq, of course support rose to a clear majority.

But before the selling job, support was around 1/3 going in no matter what, 1/3 if we have UN, and 1/3 NFW.

This was not an example of bottom-up democratic action, and very similar to how Hitler dragooned the German people into WW2.

17   StillLooking   2012 Dec 21, 6:19am

Hitler armed his people to the teeth.

Look how that turned out

18   NuttBoxer   2012 Dec 21, 6:25am

Your outlook is extremely pessimistic, even for me. We may have become fatter and stupider since the Revolution, but most of us do not want anything the government does now. To say we've brought this all on ourselves, and completely excuse the guys who pull the strings is borderline sadism.

Tell me, how many whips are in your playroom?

19   NuttBoxer   2012 Dec 21, 6:30am

Examples given and ignored straw king.

... Wait, I said I wouldn't repeat myself...

He imprisoned and disarmed everyone but his people.

I can't battle on the plain of your mind, there's no room. As truth stands, you are wrong on Iraq, as pointed out by myself and others, but refuse to admit it.

The subjectivity of your arguments leaves no room for truth.

So even Nazis knew guns are dangerous and should be banned, but we just can't figure it out.
We are worse than Nazis. Shame on gun supporters.

Whoa, easy...

Substituting "guns" with something else would make your sentence VERY wrong.
